Solution Slow speed on Archer AX50
Customers may encounter and report that the speed is slow or even less than half when connected to the network of the Archer AX50.
We here share a forum user’s case with the community that how he resolved the slow speed issue when connected to the Archer AX50 network.
Quoted from the user about the slow speed description:
“I recently had a Netgear R7000 on a 1000/550 connection and got around 650 - 700 Mbps when testing on fast.com and speedtest.net. Also tested via the android app at multiple times and on different computers at various times.
With the AX50 I get 340 - 350 Mbps on fast.com. Better results on speedtest.net, but that could just be because of different settings.
Does the AX50 throttle connections somehow?
It's clear that the AX50 for some reason is not performing like it should.
Any idea why this would be the case?
Atm no other devices are connected. What are recommended actions to take? Turn on/off WMM?
(There are no interfering devices in this area)”
We then guide him to check the QoS settings on the AX50 and found that the download and upload bandwidth don’t match the real speed he paid for. He modified the settings as we suggested, and he can get the desired bandwidth on the clients.
Step 1 Login to the AX50’s web interface page, go to Advanced > QoS > Application Priority, ensure it is on the Standard mode, check if the Total Bandwidth matches that you get from your ISP or modem. If not, please click the Edit button, tap Set Manually, and input the real upload and download bandwidth, then hit Save.
Step 2 Launch the Device Priority, ensure there is no device with the high priority (Priority is off/grayed out):

@Kevin_Z Okay, so I asked a question a couple months ago and got no reply. Is there anyone from TP Link out there other than to give automated responses or just repeat something said months ago that obviously didn't work? I've owned nothing but TP Link routers for the last 10-15 years and never had a problem like this, either from the product or from getting help! Where are you???

Hello, do you mean the QoS settings on the AX50 had been confirmed to be all correct, but the speed when connecting to it is still slow? What kind of device are you testing with the AX50, is it connected to the router with cable or wireless? You can firstly connect a computer to the AX50 with a cat 6/7 cable, run speedtest on the computer to check if you can get a normal speed, ensure there are no other devices connecting to the AX50 network at the same time.
If that is normal, but the wireless speed is not good, please confirm which band are you connecting to, try to modify the wireless settings like channel and channel width to see if that will make a difference.

@Kevin_Z im fed up. spent more than half a day to fix this low speed issue. i got nowhere. tplink are useless at fixing firmware flaws. this is worse than sony... anyone got a fix tip. or a custom firmware fix? was on chat with an ignorant agent all evening. and its not just my realtek 1000 network adapter but im seing nasty performance on the ax3000 wireless adapter too. 50mbs speeds... virgin media has confirmed they have no issues as a tech engineer visited me on monday. only issue is the hub 4 only goes as far as 780mbs in total bandwidth wifi and ethernet. and its processing power is terrible. im on a 1gb contract and should be getting over 950mbs or at least 1130mb considering ax3000 and ax50 specs. more than realteks 1000 ethernet port. i was getting insane speeds last month. it dropped after the 30th october. and no it isnt VM. all my cables are cat7 and above. but i get like 50mbs in total nowadays. i tried that qos tip and that did nothing.

Hello, is the AX3000 wireless adapter Archer TX3000E or TX50E? When it is connected to the 5G network of the AX50, how about the wireless link speed on the computer? Please confirm it as follows:
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2265/
As per the Realtek 1000 network adapter, does it negotiate at 1000Mbps when connects to the AX50 LAN with cat7 cable?
Please check and confirm again if the QoS setting on the AX50 is disabled, ensure it is on Standard Mode for the “Application Priority” page.

@Kevin_Z QoS is set as at Standard. The device I am connecting with is a laptop and a desktop, both with very slow speed. If I connect to wireless through the Archer AX50, my speed is about 40-50Mbps on 2.4Ghz. Connecting to 5Ghz, it's about 100-120Mbps. If I connect directly to the modem, my speed is about 275-295Mbps of the 300Mbps I am supposed to get. No matter what channel I use on the Archer AX50, I still get slow speed wirelessly.

Hello, what is the speed you can get if you connect a computer to the AX50 LAN with an Ethernet cable, is it normal? If yes, then please confirm what is the wireless link speed on the laptop when it is connecting to the AX50 5G network, you can find that as follows, post a screenshot:
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2265/
You can also confirm what is the link speed when a device is connected to the AX50 2.4G network as above, then go through this story to know if the speed is normal:

i guest there is no way !
even connected in gigabit ethernet, i could never go through 300mb on a 1 gb internet connection.
idem in wifi 6 from a iphone 11, 200-250mb max.
The problem is the routing, the processor has not enough power, when you switch to access point, speed is good.
Probably nothing to do with that except buy a more expensive router.

Hello, have you checked my original post in this thread? Please confirm and disable QoS settings on the AX50, then confirm.
You can also check that Avadon did resole his speed issue by checking the guide we provided:
