Why are Deco M5's advertized as being able to disable 5Ghz - when they can't?
I've been chasing TP-Link support for months about this, at my wits end.
I bought my Deco M5 purely on the basis that they had the ability to disable the 5Ghz radios. I have a number of smart devices and an internet device that needs this for interferance reasons. But a few months in, and crucially just a few weeks beyond my return period, I realized it was a lie. The Deco does not disable the radio - despite there being a feature in the mobile app to do so. Instead, it just hides the SSID. Radios still broadcast.
TP Link support reps at first kept repeating the same script, "of course you can do this, just open the mobile app" yada yada. But once I provided proof, then nothing. I get pre-canned emails saying they have escalated this....but nothing.
Searching the forums, clearly other Deco models have the same problem. So what gives TP Link? Why lie? Why not give your customers the feature you have been advertising for years?
Confused and frustrated.
