Deco X20 - problem with 2,4 ghz
Hi
I just set up my deco X20 network and I have a 2.4 ghz problem.
My main network is set up with mesh 2.4 ghz and 5ghz and it works ok. But I need a network only with 2.4 ghz, as I have several devices that only run on 2.4 ghz network.
I have tried to make a guest network with only 2.4 ghz and it does not work at all. If I'm lucky I might be able to get a speed of 0.50 mbps. but sometimes I can do a speed test and then it shows 70 mbps.
I have a 500/500 connection and on my main network I hit 350-400 mbps on speed test.
why do I have such a bad connection at 2.4 ghz?
ps. i have tried running only 2.4 ghz on my main network and it gives the same result as on the guest network.

Hi,
Have you tried to use the network optimization to improve the 2.4ghz wireless channel to see whether it helped or not?
And did all the 2.4ghz only devices have the same issue?
Would only leaving the main deco, powering off the others temporarily improve a little bit?
Thank you very much and wait for your reply.

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
Where can I find the network optimization feature?
All our devices running at 2.4 ghz say that the internet is slow or no internet.
If I turn off the 2 extra Deco, and only have the main Deco running, then the connection is good with 2.4 ghz and there are no big fluctuations. '
I have been testing all over the house and i have signal all the time, but of course the connection gets worse the further i get away from the main deco.
When I turned on one of the extra Deco (Deco 2), the 2.4 ghz signal dies instantly.
I turned off the power to Deco 2 and turned on Deco 3, but same result, no or very little internet.
I have attached a floor plan so you can see my house and where I have placed the 3 Decos.
best regards Henrik

Thank you very much!.
We would like to follow up on your case by email and please have a check of your email box.
At the same time, May I know how long have you had the device and when did this issue start?
After checking with the engineers, they suspected that it might be caused by the congested wireless channel;
If possible, could you please use the Wi-Fi analyzer to detect the clearest channel and the current channel for the Deco X20;
By the way, May I know how many devices would connect to the 2.4ghz?
Thanks a lot and wait for your reply.

Hi
I have confirmed that I have received the email from you.
I have maybe 4-6 units running at 2.4 ghz.
By the way, I got Fiber connection.

hi Giuseppe
I got a mail from TP-link support, saying that I needed to update the firmware ( se mail below)
And it worked 🙂
Tp support ;
Recently, there is a new firmware for Deco X20 V1.2:
https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/deco-x20/v1.20/#Firmware
Deco X20(EU)_V1.20_1.5.1_20210204
https://static.tp-link.com/2021/202103/20210311/Deco_X20_V1.2_1.5.1_20210204.zip
if possible, please try to download the firmware and log into the web UI via
http://tplinkdeco.net and manually upload the firmware.

Hi, welcome to the community.
I noticed that your model number is Deco M4 with the latest firmware 1.5.2.
Did this issue start after 1.5.2?
At the same time, there are some suggestions for you:
1. turn off the fast roaming/beamforming on the Deco APP.
2. enable the guest network for 2.4ghz only with a different SSID.
3. connect the smartphone to the guest network and try to set up the Heat pump and electrical Car Charger again.
By the way, I see that the Deco was registered for about a year, and did this issue just start recently?
If possible, It would be highly appreciated if you could start a new thread with the above answers.
Thank you very much.
