Guest AP isolation thread #135 and a general rant
Awww damnit!!!
I wanted to save a few bucks and just got the deco x60 3 set instead of the ubiquity. Not that the x60 was cheap. But since I am only planning to set this up for my parents' house I thought I couldn't go wrong with Tplink.
Is it because of covid you think that having a seperated guest network is not something we are ever going to use any more?
TPlink!!!! How did you manage to f*ck it up so greatly?
How do these companies have their mouth so full that friggin *each* of them wants to sell us their own DHCP enabled device? Yes, dnsmasq is open source and its stable. But that doesnt mean that you need to put in EVERY SINGLE THING that does internet and believe if we just used that, all problems were solved. It works for your testlab. But this the real world. Its entirely useless, guys! You're late to the party. We already have routers. They are working. And we dont want to replace them. The only reason we are buying your products is because we would like to get better wifi. Can you please stop being the guest at the party that takes over the music and make us listen to your 90s mixtapes the entire night. That's really kak and we are very annoyed about it.
In case you are a technician and don't understanding a word of what I am writing: you expecting us to set a friggin hotspot in router mode is wrong on so many levels! Stop it and for gods sake finally roll out that firmware upgrade with a decent network isolation for the guest wifi in AP mode you've been talking about. Its been due since a year and you're still false advertising it. Better: do realize that your device will be installed into existing infrastructure and deliver it in AP mode already.
I am obviously sending this back and will get a ubiquity device. Even if that means going through a shtload of submenues just for the most obvious tasks. I wish the girls and guys from gl.inet would start working on this.
