Hi All,

 

I am getting regular wired internet drops throughout the day for 10s to 1m at a time. Other devices do not drop at the same time (i can still connect to the internet on my phone even though my PC shows as no network availble). I'm having the same error as the OP. Please can anyone advise.

Hello, does this mean only the wired devices keep losing the internet access from the router but wireless devices are working just fine? May I know how many wired devices connect to the router via LAN cable, are all of them experiencing the same drop-out? When the drop-out happens, can you please check if they get an IP address from the router successfully? What is it? You can follow the guide to check that:

BTW, when you notice the drop-out, is the internet LED on the C80 orange or green? Who is your ISP?

Hi Kevin, thanks for responding.

 

It is only the wired devices that drop, not the wireless ones. 

The router (Archer C80) is connected to a Virgin Internet Hub 3 that is in modem mode. The devices connected to the router are my PC (I use this regularly so notice when the internet drops). My partner's PC connected via a Powerline Adapter to the office upstairs (she doesn't use this often but has always had the same issue), and hubs for my IKEA smart devices, and the hub for my Eufy security camera system.

 

I have the LEDs of the router switched off, so I'll switch them back on and let you know if I notice anything when the issue occurs.

 

Since posting here I have tried a few things and haven't had a drop out so far. These are:

Increasing the Lease Time from 120 mins to 1440 mins.

Changing the DNS to Googles (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4)

Reserved the IP address for the wired devices (previously only my PC had a reserved address (which is outside the DHCP pool if that could be a problem?), but i have added an address for the IKEA and Eufy devices)

Changes the bandwidth settings in the QoS section to reflect my actual upload and download bandwidth (10/100. Was previously set to 1000/1000)

  @Kensei @Kevin_Z  I have the same issue, losing connection multiple times during the day and I get that error in the router Lease host name not found, how to get that fixed?

As ive said before, I was advised to return the product. I refunded and got a higher end Archer. No problems 12 months of operation. Be aware that your problem might have a different origin than mine.

Are you using the same Archer C80? As stated by Kensei that your issue may be different from his, so we hope you could provide more details. 

 

Are the devices connected to the wireless network losing the connection or both wireless and wired? How about the LED on the C80 when the issue happens? Who is your ISP? Please be sure the ISP modem internet is stable first.

  @Kensei No luck unfortunately. Still sitting here occasionally dropping internet for no reason.Found it only happens when i'm using particular devices on the network through. Not sure if that'll help anyone else diagnose the problem
