Model: Archer A7
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have an archer a7 router on my first floor.  I purchased a range extender for the second floor.  This works great.  I guess this is referred to as a mesh network?  I like this because phones, tablets, etc connect to whatever one they need to automatically and it appears as just one network when connecting.  I have a detached building i am wanting to get internet access in.  A wireless range extender is not an option.  I ran a cat 6 cable to it this week.  I used the chat feature on this website an explained what i wanted to do and expressed that i wanted one network just like it is with my range extender, etc.  The person i spoke with encouraged me to get a second router and put it in access point mode.  I will admit i am not a networking pro by any means but i still have seperate networks for each router?  Did i miss something?  Also, it doesn't appear a range extender is an option due to them only connecting wirelessly?  Will this setup work or do i need to look at something different?  I was reading about ASUS's mesh ofereing and it sounds like that may work in my situation better?

@Alex2929

Since Archer A7 supports OneMesh, you have to determine if you're using your network extender in OneMesh mode or just as a regular network extender.

First option:

You can place another network extender, that is OneMesh capable, on the half of a distance between your main and detached building.

Just need to connect it to the power grid and you'll have a mesh network with all these three devices (1x Archer A7 + 2x NE)

Second option:

If you can't place another NE, then another Archer A7 in AP mode, connected with ethernet cable, will provide a network (but not mesh) connectivity in the detached building.

You'll have a different wireless networks, but you can use Smart Connect feature in the AP device and name the AP SSID same as in the main Archer A7 router.

This will simplify things for you, showing no additional networks, but of course you can name AP SSIDs different, even not using the Smart Connect feature in AP device (2x Archer A7 + 1x NE)
