Model: Archer VR2800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

The 2.4ghz network periodically stops working. There are 25 devices using this network, and what is a pain is on resetting the router they don’t all come back on line. We have to power them off and back on again. Most of them are tp-link smart switches with a couple on Amazon ones.

This also happened to the same previous vr2800 which Amazon replaced after 5months.

we have 2 iPads which use the 5ghz network with no problems.

i have set the 2.4 to channel 6 instead of the default auto.

Anyone have any ideas. Someone said on another thread paying more is not always best.

dave

I turned off the 2.4hz in the AC2800 then back on again followed by logout and this seemed to fix it for a while. My wife and I have moved our ipads over to the 5hz network also my Sony TV. This means we don't always know if the 2.4hz has failed. Sometimes it would fail then restart it's self some time later. Hope this is of some help. Dave

@kada33

Thank you for posting on the TP-Link Community.

To better assist you, please provide us with the below information:

Have you updated the modem firmware to the latest, then reset and reconfigure it from scratch to confirm if the 2.4G connection will more stable?

Try to modify the wireless settings on the VR2800, such as wireless channel and channel width to find a clear one, you may install a Wi-Fi analyzer to check which channel is clear. Change the channel width to 20MHz, security to WPA2-PSK/AES, then reboot the modem to confirm.

My Router is H/W Ver 1.0 S/W ver. 170809. Two issues out of date. If I update the F/W to the latest 201103 does that mean I will have to reset all our 20+ smart devices from scratch? Regards Dave

@kada33

I'm seeing the same.  Did you resolve the issue?  At the moment I've been forced to disable the 2.4Ghz band totally as its so unreliable.
