Deco M5 ethernet connection
Hi there.
I've just bought and set up a three pack Deco M5 home mesh wifi system for my three floor house. I've got one Deco M5 on each floor and they're apparently connected fine, showing a full five bar wifi signal throughout the property.
I've a couple of questions that I've had a look for the answers for on these forums, but it's possible I've missed them. Any assistance gratefully received!
1) I've got the 'Main Deco' upstairs on the second (top) floor, and I'd like to be able to connect my my second Deco (on the middle floor) to my old laptop via ethernet cable. I've attached the cable from laptop to Deco, but whilse both Deco and laptop recognise they're connected, the Deco is refusing to provide any internet via the cable ("No Internet", according to the Network info on the laptop). I've used my mobile wifi to ensure there's definitely wifi connection between this second Deco to the main one upstairs, but the Deco refuses to provide the connection via ethernet. Is there a setting I need to switch on via the Deco app? I've tethered my mobile to the laptop many times via USB cable, so I know there's nothing wrong with the cable.
2) I find the Deco nodes on the first and ground floor do provide a noticeably slower upload and download connection when compared with the 'main' one on the second (top) floor of the property. It's all still usable, but we're talking 180Mbps DL / 12Mbps UL via the 'main' Deco on the top floor and around 24Mbps DL / 6Mbps UL via the other two Decos. Again, is there a setting I can tweak to provide vaguely equal speeds throughout the house, or is there always a degradation of this level? The house isn't *huge* - the 'main' Deco and the second one are about 4 metres apart (admittedly separated by a floor), and the third one downstairs is around 10 metres away diagonally (on the other side of the house through another floor).
Again, apologies if the above has been covered many times elsewhere, but all guidance appreciated!
