Model: Deco P9
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.2 Build 20200918 Rel. 74476

I have the mesh setting enabled (seamless roaming) for every device on our homes internet.

It occurred to me that most smart device's don't move around at all. Smart outlets, smart speakers, and smart lights would they have better wifi performance with mesh not enabled?  Does having all my light bulbs set to mesh enabled have any benefits?

Or am I actually slowing down the network or decreasing performance,?

I've turned off a speaker to the nursery for our baby to sleep with white noise which was having 5-10 second freezes occasionally. I'm not certain it helps though.

I have the Deco P9 and the app shows my device connection speeds usually at zero or just above zero. Obviously my speeds are far faster but could that be related?

@Rjjrmiller

Good day,

Thank you very much for your patience.

For the static devices, there would be no huge different whether the Mesh technology is on or off.

It would be better to leave it off in case it automatically jump between different Decos which sometimes would cause potential disconnection.

As for the speed test of the specific devices, if Deco did not detect the data communication, it would be displayed as zero or nearly zero m/s;

Thanks a lot.

Thank you for the reply.

This is the first night we try mesh disabled.

Its a Google mini in our new baby daughter's room playing sleeping sounds all night. The last 2 months the mesh was on and every few hours, it would suddenly stop playing for between 5-20 seconds and then unfreeze and continue playing.

The mesh was always on.

We were casting the sleep sounds from youtube on  a tablet in our Bedroom. Both devices never moved and both had mesh on.

Tonight both have no mesh and the Google speaker in her room has been given priority bandwidth. Although the tablet in our room playing a 10hr long youtube video and simultaneously casting it to her maybe should be priority bandwidth.

Its been a few hours and I haven't heard it freeze one time yet.
