It really depends on your environment. The idea of Auto is to leave to the router to decide about the channel width and channel on which it will work. In particular situations (congested Wi-Fi environments) it's better to set it on a channel less crowded. For that purpose you'll need to do a scan with any Wi-Fi analyzer to see which channel is less crowded and select it manually, but then again Auto should take care of this for you. The same with channel width - if you have a hardware capable of 160Mhz bandwidth, the Auto should change that automatically for you. Of course it depends on how the manufacturer has implemented that algorithm in the device. In some cases it is better to do that manually. I would suggest you to start on Auto and if you think you have an issue, then try to tweak those settings.
