WAN cable unplugged
Just purchased the Archer C20 cabled it up... went into quick set up and can not get passed this error...
I am not going through any other device just straight from the wall socket to Ethernet socket on the modem then WAN 1 socket, to my desktop PC
I have been using a TP-Link TD-VG5612 and have been experiencing drop outs so after moving house I decided to update to the Archer C20 to try and narrow down the dropouts but as mentioned above can not get passed the error.
I even purchased a new cable from the wall socket to the modem but it can not detect the internet even though I have changed nothing.
I don't know what else to say as I am not that experienced but do know how to cable up a modem.
At my wits end any advice would be gratefully accepted.
Forgot to mention I followed all the install advice from TP-Link in cabling the unit from the TP-Link User Guide downloaded from https://www.tp-link.com/au/

Hello, just to verify, this Archer C20 is a wireless router, it's not a modem. Do you mean you are using this C20 to replace the previous DSL modem TD-VG5612? I don't think C20 can replace the TD-VG5612 directly, as the TD-VG5612 is a modem, it can work with the telephone line directly, while the C20 cannot.
In your case, you need to plug the telephone line into the TD-VG5612, then connect the TD-VG5612 to the C20 if you want to use it.
I hope this makes sense.

@Kevin_Z Thanks yes makes sense. I seem to have made a mistake in my purchase I thought I was purchasing a modem/router.
As to " plug the telephone line into the TD-VG5612, then connect the TD-VG5612 to the C20" wont I still get dropouts if that is in fact the TD-VG5612's problem?
Which is why I purchased the Archer C20 to try and pinpoint the problem before I get in touch with my ISP and complain.

I'm afraid so. Just to confirm, is the wireless dropping out or the internet dropping out on the VG5612? If it is only the wireless drops out, it may improve the curretn situation by adding the C20 to the VG5612, you may give it a try, disable the Wi-Fi on the VG5612 and only leave the wireless on the C20 on.

@Kevin_Z It's the internet. I have moved house and ISP but it has done it with both ISP's drops out for 30sec to a minute seconds most times no more than a minute.
So I thought if I tried a new modem it might help/stop the drop outs. Oh well I will keep looking.

I see, if that is the case, you may need to get another modem first or replace the C20 with a modem router.
