Archer C80 reboots automatically
Hi,
Recently i bought Archer C80 router and i am facing automatic reboot issue fot the same. When it happens, all LED's of Router are turned off and it restarts automatically.
My router is connected to ONU which is connected to fiber cable.
Initially i thought this issue might be due to connection to VPN but it's happening even if its not in use. My connection type is PPPoE and i don't think there is any power supply issue. I tried to trace this issue without much success.
Can you please suggest what can be the issue here?

@Sanket_C80 Yes, I am facing similar issues. I guess this started after last auto firmware update almost a month ago. This keeps happening sporadically.

@Kevin_Z The Wifi signal disappears from all the connected devices. I generally have 5 devices in 5Ghz band that is connected. This issue keeps repeating in undefined pattern. We didn't have any power cuts and the router plug is seated correctly.
It usually takes 1 to 2 minutes for the signal to come back again. The router on the WAN end connects to a ONU provided by my Excitel fibre vendor. The method of connecting is PPPoE.

How about wired and 2.4G, no devices connected?
Have you tried to reset the C80 to factory defaults and reconfigure it from scratch to confirm?

@Kevin_Z No wired and 2.4Ghz connected devices. I had factory defaulted the device last week. No luck. This seems like the issue started after the last upgrade on 22nd October.

I am also facing the same issue quite frequently.
Firmware Version:
1.5.0 Build 201022 Rel.53112n(5553)
Hardware Version: Archer C80 1.0
At random times, the router reboots itself. All lights shut down. Wifi and Ethernet gets disconnected. it automatically boots up and then Wifi and Etherenet resumes. At times I have to even plug out and plug in Ethernet to make it work.
I have a PPoE connection and if I connect to ISP Provider cable to my laptop, Internet is continuous and stable, zeroing this down to router issue.
My router is on a UPS so no power issues and has uninterrupted power.
Some blogs recommended to
- disable Smart Connect
- ensure NAT and NAT Boost is enabled
- ensure MU-MIO is enabled
- ensure Encryption is AES and Security is WPA/WPA2 Persona. (Dont select WPA2/WPA3 Personal or Enterprise option)
- enable Short GI
- ipv6 disabled
even after these settings, the issue persists. Some days there is no reboot at all and some days there are multiple random reboots even in an hour span.
I have also observed that the TPLink ID bounded also vanishes from the router.
This is causing alot of issues (random reboots) and it interrupts calls, streaming etc and is very annoying. With router being being bought a month back, I am really hoping TpLink provides needed support to resolve this ASAP. I have also submitted a TPLink Technical Support - "[TP-Link Support]-[TKID201207951] " via the Web Portal.
Looking forward for an earliest response.

Have you tried to reset it to factory defaults and reconfigure it from scratch? Give it a go, then confirm, thanks a lot.
BTW, how many devices are connected to the C80 network, wired and wirelessly? Is there any special or new devices connecting to the network when this reboot issue began to happen?

@Kevin_Z I did a factory reset last night. Today morning the issue popped up again, so the issue persists. It indeed looks to be a bug in the router. Do you have any further suggestions?
