Archer C7 V5 Wifi speed
Hi,
I had a archer C6 which allows me to connect in WIFI 5Ghz at 866 Mbps. As I need more speed to use VR applications, I finally bought the Archer C7 1750 V5 annouced to provide at least 1300 Mbps speed in WIFI 5Ghz.
Unfortunatelly I finnaly got the same solutioin as with my Archer C6 and the speed never exceeds 866 Mbps. The device I use which is an Oculus Headset is WIFI 5/6 capable, so I expected an speed increase.
Did I miss something ?
I can't see any specific parameter to help achieving this result.
Any suggestion ?
Thanks

Hi,
I don't think you are doing something wrong, I'm afraid this model is just unable to achieve what TP-Link announces. I can't find any one who reached 1300mbps, don't even talk about 1750mbps. I contacted TP-Link directly and they ask me to make some changes in my settings but with no result. This model is good for 866mbps but don't expect more.

Have you tested the 5G connection on other devices, such as phones or laptops?
BTW, what is the distance between the C7 and the Oculus Quest 2 headset? You can try to change the 5G wireless channel on the C7 to 36/40/44 or something else, change the channel width to 80MHz, change the mode to 802.11ac only, then reboot the C7 and reconnect to confirm.

I tested it with a smartphone (using a testing app) and it never exceeds 866 mbps.
My Oculus is at 1 meter from the router.
And yes I used the settings you suggested (Actually : Channel 40, channel width to 80MHz and mode to 802.11ac), I tried with different channels but I always got the same limitation.
As said I can't find any testimonial for people reaching more than 866 mbps ...

Upon checking, it seems that the Oculus Headsets support 2*2 MIMO, that means it can associate maximum at 866 Mbps with the Archer C7, thus the link speed is normal. You may confirm this with the Oculus support.

Could be ...
But how to explain that some people reached 1300 mbps with the Oculus 2 using other routers (from Asus to not mention it).
And why do I have the same limitation with my Galaxy S9 which is 4x4 MIMO then ?
Anyway, you are the fourth person from TP-Link support I speak to and it's the first time I hear about this MIMO limitation ...
