Have been reading this thread with interest. Totally agree this is a major issue that needs priority resolution.
Could you send me the beta firmware as well please (RE650 v1)
Would you mind confirming when the official firmware release is due, and when it comes out, if we can update our extenders with this over the top of the beta without issue/having to reset.
Many thanks,
Gopha

For those of you who've tried the new RE650 firmware to resolve this issue - any feedback on how it's gone?
Has it resolved the issue, and any side effects?
Cheers,
Gopha.

I have just applied the beta firmware and can confirm that it appears to work. That is to say that it didn't brick my RE650 V1 extender AND now when I connect to the extender with apple mobile devices I do not get the warning message about being connected with WPA/WPA2 (TKIP).
The cynic in me does wonder if the new firmware actually enables devices to connect with WPA/WPA2 (AES) or if it's just somehow supressing the warning message. I'm only a little bit cynical not technical enough to know of a way to independently validate this. :-)

Thanks, not bricking is a good start(!)
If you have a Mac laptop, you can use the Wireless Diagnostics Tool to check the specifics of the connection security for any access point in range.
Give me a shout if you want to know how (if you've got a Mac laptop).
Unfortunately, not possible on Apple iOS devices without third party apps I think.
Cheers,
Gopha.
