Solution Weak secuirty issue on the IOS system
Background:
Some of you may have updated your Apple devices to the latest iOS 14 version and get a “Weak Security” warning message when connecting to the Deco network.
Why Deco network is displayed as “Weak Security”?
Deco by default secured your wireless network with a mixed WPA/WPA2-AES/TKIP security, and the previous firmware was not allowed to manually configure the security mode. While iOS14 and some new operating systems consider other than the latest WPA3 and WPA2 AES to have security issues.
Solution:
1. The latest firmware version has allowed users to manually configure the security mode; Please make sure that you have updated Deco to the latest firmware;
2. Please ensure you are running the latest Deco app on your phone;
Then Launch your Deco app->MORE->Wi-Fi, tap the password box and you will be able to change the Security Type:
Note:
1. Sometimes Deco APP might fail to get the latest firmware upgrade notification, please also check on the local official website to ensure you have the latest firmware;
2. After changing the security mode to WPA2-PSK (AES) only, If some of your old IoT devices cannot connect to the Deco network anymore, you could change the security back to the mixed WPA2-PSK (AES)+WPA-PSK (TKIP) as your devices might not support the newer AES version.

Hi, thanks for the screenshot.
This actually is not related to the Deco network, it is the setting on your iPhone, you may turn on the Private Address on your iPhone as below:

I am not getting the option to update my firmware for the Deco M9 plus. Still showing 1.2.12 build . Is there something I need to do to get the update?

Is this available to all regions? I'm currently in Hong Kong, and when I click on those links, it keeps reverting back to me to the HK site which doesn't have the official firmware updates.
Should I just go through the 'global' site and update the firmware from the global site? Will this void my warranty (as it's warned on the firmware pages).

@TP-Link_Deco I have an M9 Plus sytem ver 2.8 - I have downloaded the the .bin file and updated the firmware via my app - the weak security message still appears. When I attemtp to manually update via the log in site, I get a message that I can not find the server. What now? This is ridiculous. I have spent hours resetting my mesh sytem and updating and chatting with customer support - nothing works.

Hi,
Since there are plenty of pages of this post, If anyone had the same issue with Deco M9 Plus, please send me a private message, which would be highly appreciated.
And for the latest firmware for Deco M9 Plus, it is Deco M9 Plus(EU)_V2_200921/ 1.4.3 Build 20200921 Rel. 42500
Modifications and Bug Fixes:
1. Fixed the Wi-Fi encryption type as WPA2-PSK [AES] to ensure the security of the Wi-Fi connection.
2. Added the option to change the Wi-Fi encryption type.
Note: Some old devices may fail to connect to Deco due to not supporting WPA2-PSK [AES]. You can change the Wi-Fi encryption type to WPA2-PSK [AES] / WPA-PSK [TKIP] to be compatible with these devices.
Then here comes another problem,
If the current firmware version is lower than 1.4.0, you might not able to detect the latest firmware and need to upgrade the firmware manually using the utility on our website:
https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202010/20201009/Deco%20M9%20Plus_V2_200921.zip
Thank you very much.

Some of you may have updated your Apple devices to the latest iOS 14 version and get a “Weak Security” warning message when connecting to the Deco network. This is because iOS14 and some new operating systems consider other than the latest WPA3 and WPA2 AES to have security issues.
Why Deco network is displayed as “Weak Security”?
Deco by default secures your wireless network with a mixed WPA/WPA2-AES/TKIP security, and it is not manually configurable. We currently only have the Deco X20 and Deco X60 support WPA3 security, and we will add more:
https://www.tp-link.com/wpa3/compatibility/
What to do?
We will soon release official firmware for the Deco devices to allow you to change the wireless security type in weeks, please keep an eye on your Deco app for the updates.
If you do worry about your network security and want to get rid of the “weak security” warning immediately, we have prepared the beta firmware for the Deco devices, you may update your Deco devices to this beta firmware as per your Deco models. We updated the download link in case there are models in your Deco network that don't support this feature yet to change the wireless security:
[Update on 19 NOV. 2020] New official firmware for some Deco models is available, the beta firmware is removed from the below list and it is suggested to update to the latest official firmware.
Deco M5_V1/V2/V3: new official firmware 1.4.9 Build 20200924 Rel. 60170 is now available, update it via the Deco app or web interface directly. If someone is currently on the newer 1.5.0 beta, he is not allowed to downgrade to the new 1.4.9 official, and it is suggested to wait for the 1.5.0 official firmware in the near future.

Note:
1. Once updated to this beta firmware, your Deco network security will be set to WPA2-PSK (AES) by default. If some of your old IoT devices cannot connect to the Deco network anymore, you need to change the security back to the mixed WPA2-PSK (AES)+WPA-PSK (TKIP) as your devices don’t support the newer AES version.
2. To change the security type on your Deco app, ensure you are running the latest Deco app on your phone, Android version 2.2.1, and iOS 2.2.2.
Launch your Deco app->MORE->Wi-Fi, tap the password box and you will be able to change the Security Type:
3. You can only update this beta firmware via your Deco device web interface: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1599/
