Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.4.2

@Kevin_Z

Facts:

-Using 2 deco M4R's for slightly more than a week and firmware is up to date.

-2 Deco M4's (both connected in router mode) and all on the same floor.\

-it has been really good for the last 1 week or so I have used it.

--from yesterday for no reason, slave deco keeps flashing red light every few seconds and drops connection.

-Now the main deco internet connection is intermittant too (one minute its fine and another minute it is not)

Trouble shooting steps undertaken:

1. Swapped places with main deco (unplugged from its bedroom location and plugged in place of main deco in the living room)

2. Reset the slave deco system.

These steps still did not solve the problem.

Can someone from TP Link look into see whats is causing the problerm urgently?

@Raiden

Hello,

We will do some troubleshooting and try to fix it first.
1. What is the current firmware version of your two Deco units now? Please show us the screenshot about it on your Deco app, thanks.

2. How are the two Deco M4R connected to each other, via wifi or cable?

3. What about the stability of the front-end device when the main M4R shows a red LED? With your computer connected to the modem directly, what are the IP address and default gateway? Below is the instruction: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/838/

4. How often it loses connection and how do you make it back to work? Like reboot it or it will work automatically in a few minutes?
5. Is there any change in your network that may cause this issue?

Good day~

@TP-Link_Deco ,

Response 1: Please see the screenshot below. App is same.

Response 2: Modem->Main Deco M4R (router mode) ->Slave deco (wifi)

Response 3: Main deco M4R is stable when the slaver deco showing pulsing red throughout yesterday.

Response 4: It pulses red every few minutes and I unplug and plug back the slave deco.

Response 5: No network change. It started suddenly from yesterday. I have already done a reboot and the routers are only slightly more than a week old.

Could you check my deco M4 logs to see what might be causing the issue?

@Raiden

Hello, thanks a lot for all the details.

What is the distance between the two Deco MER nodes? Is the main Deco network is stable, while the RE Deco is unstable, we may assume there are a lot of interferences or obstacles between the two Deco node, are they on the same floor or on different floors?

What if you swap the two nodes and make the RE as the main, will it stable?

If it is the specific Deco node unstable, please tell me the MAC address of it, thanks.

@TP-Link_Deco main deco remians stable when the slave deco is unstable. The problem started a couple of days ago and we are having to restar this every few hours now. Nothing has changed during this couple of days.

Main deco is in the living room and the slave deco (the unstable one) is in the adjacent room. The distance between the 2 is approximately 30-40 feets.

the MAC address of the slave deco M4R  (the unstable one) is : CC-32-E5-89-5F-60
