Model: Archer C1200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20180403 rel.22124(EU)

Hi guys, I've been referring to websites and official videos by TP-Link regarding setting up this C1200 as access point by changing the LAN IP address but no avail.

I am currently using Archer C6 as my main router for my home and I got this extra C1200 (provided by the ISP previously) that I wanted to set it up as access point for my home.

I am connecting LAN to LAN between two routers.

Methods tried:

1) Changing the IP of LAN to 192.168.0.2 and disable DHCP. However, there shows no internet connection.

2) Changing the IP of LAN to 192.168.0.100 because I thought it needs to be within DHCP address of main router. Result is no internet connection and I had to reset my router because I can't access my user interface after changing.

3) Tried to upgrade firmware to US version so that I can change its operation mode. However the C1200 wont let me do so.

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks appreciated!

@JJayTan

Hello,

Ensure there are no special settings like Access Control or MAC filtering on the Archer C6.

Then refer to the below guide to reconfigure the C1200 to work as an AP:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1384/

Note:

1. If the IP address of the C6 is 192.168.0.1, then you may change the IP address of the C1200 to 192.168.0.2, which should be ok;

2. Ensure the DHCP server on the C1200 is disabled;

3. Connect the C1200 LAN to the C6 LAN.

May it help.
