Hi Guys,
I just bought the TL-WDR4300 and the TD-W8970 (i wanted to TD-W8980 but it's not out yet in Australia)
I'm using the TD-W8970 as the connection to the internet.
I'm trying to connect the WDR4300 via WDS to extend the wireless range.
I've followed the following FAQ: http://www.tp-linkru.com/article/?faqid=440
Unfortunately I have not been able to get it working.
I've checked other tutorials online but still no success.
On the WDR4300 status page, the WDS Status displays "Run", however there's no internet connection, both with DHCP on and off.
The WDR4300 is updated with the latest firmware and so is the W8970.
Is this setup possible?
I was hoping the double combination of TP-LINK products will make it easier and compatible to connect.
Any help will be appreciated and thanks in advance.

Hi Jimasek,
The modem, W8970, is set as 192.168.1.1.
The router, WDR4300, is set as 192.168.1.2.
gateway and dns both set as 192.168.1.1 with dhcp disabled.
When I connect my computer to the WDR4300, I do not get an ip address in the correct subnet so I have to assign one eg. 192.168.1.100.
I am not able to get to my computer for a few days so wont be able to get the ipconfig /all information.
Hopefully, what I've provided above is useful.
Thanks.

I don't know what is your DHCP range on W8970, I suggest change IP address on WDR4300 for example 192.168.1.254 will be safe. And I'm interesting your address IP on computer.

DHCP range on the w8970 I've set it to be 192.168.1.10-192.168.1.99.
When DHCP is disabled on the WDR4300, the ip address I get from the ethernet cable is along the lines of 169.254.xxx.xxx.

wds status goes through init ... and eventually run.
you will have to wait a few days before I can send you a screen shot.
Thanks for your quick replies. will get it to you as soon as I can.

wds status goes through init ... and eventually run.
First 30sec can be " through init" ok, but after that must be RUN all time. Please will check wireless security in W8970 and this same you will write in WDR4300 in WDS configuration.
SAVE and REBOOT your router.

Hi Jimasek,
I'm finally home now and can provide you with the settings.
Below are screenshots of settings in both routers.
From the image, both wireless settings match and the WDS status is run.
The WDR4300 lan setting is 192.168.1.2 while the TD-W8970 is 192.168.1.1.
With DHCP off on the WDR4300, I cannot ping 192.168.1.1 as I don't get an IP on the same network.
Any help to get this working is much appreciated.
Thanks.

Screenshot resolution is too small, in password table you have to write wpa2 key from main router. You'll find it on my screenshot.
