I'm very interested in the Deco X60 supporting VLAN tagging on the guest network as well. Please TP-Link implement this!

This is crucial feature in modern home networks with more and more IoT devices. Real segmentation based on vlans not just additional SSID.

  @greg234 I am giving up.

I have come to the conclusion that TP-link is not a consumer-friendly company and they actually don't give a SH*T about their existing customers.

As long as you buy the product everything is OK, but when you are in... they forget about you en move to the next.

I have 7 deco's and it was a significant investment. Every other comparable product has this feature. It is unacceptable that, even after several years, this still isn't implemented.

Never again TP-Link and you can be sure i will NOT recommend this brand anymore.

As a solution to this but still used TP-link, as were better value. I have now upgraded to my old EAP255 and a new EAP610 with a Controller. TBH works well signal wise, even with the older device and does VLAN (think there's a limit of 4 but I only have 2 so fine for me).

I had 3 Deco's and the signal with these 2 does not seem massively different, but I am thinking of a further EAP610, then using the old unit in an outbuilding for additional garden coverage

I just stumbled across this whole thread because of an interesting issue that takes this further. How long they've been ignoring people on this issue is crazy.

To make matters worse, regardless of whether traffic goes through hardwire or WiFi backhaul (I can understand WiFi backhaul somewhat), if a packet has a vlan tag on it, it will get killed the second it hits a deco. That's absolutely crazy to me because even a 20 doll hair switch can still act as a trunk and pass things along. In fact I did that as a test with the cheapest switch I had laying around, a netgear gs105.

These don't even play well in networks with vlans at all and essentially make themselves almost less than worthless. About the only thing I could use them for is a dedicated iot WiFi mesh. But who wants 3 of these only for that?

I get they're one of the cheapest options out there, but having seen this thread, tplink is never getting any sort of recommendation from me again.

  @vlan_guy

Wow, here I go again, had it all written out but link not allowed (From their own website, as well as can't copy and paste........)

I just update my 2 Deco M9 Plus to: 1.6.4 Build 20240718 Rel. 76925

This needs to be done through downloads from their website, cannot be done via internet.

Look for their support page, download section, Title is:  Download for Deco M9 Plus V2

Version can be choosen on this page eg V1, You will see what you need, Utility and Firmware.

Updated mine via WiFi but unplugged the internet.

So my Deco's have both the above Firmware as before they were running on different firmware's although there was no update available!!!!

I have no clue if the guest network can now be run as a VLAN but that is my next step. (I ended up here to find out how to and in my persuit at other info found this update.)

Cheers y'all, hope it helps.
