Deco M5 firmware 1.4.4 broken
Deco M5 firmware 1.4.4 broken
Deco M5 firmware 1.4.4 was released on 21st Feb and post upgrading to it - all the Decos are stuck with 21st Feb date because of which I do not get monthly reports nor parental controls are working on those :-(
I have tried reseting, reconfiguring, downgrading to firmware 1.4.0 (which resets the date to 2019!!) but nothing works.
Any suggestions to reset date on Deco and getting daily/monthly usage reports back?
Thanks,

Hello,
Do you mean the latest firmware of the Deco M5 is 1.4.4 but it still shows the release time is 21st Feb? Yes, this 1.4.4 is released on 21st Feb, is there an issue with it?
Deco firmware updates are released on a rolling basis, and new features will be added via the firmware upgrade. However, before releasing new firmware officially, we need to do round and round tests to verify the performance of the whole mesh system as well as the stability, so it will take some time and that is the reason why the release date is older than the actual publish date.
What's wrong with the Monthly Report feature on the Deco app, is it no longer working? Can you please describe it in detail and we will try to figure it out?
Good day.

Hi,
On Deco App - following things are not working.
1. Monthly report - it shows "Check Internet Connection" button and on clicking it takes me to page of "All Decos are online."
2. Usage report i.e. Insights shows 0 h with "No history" as message while internet has been in use all the week.
3. Parental controls do not work.
4. Test Internet Speed - Fails after a very long wait.
I did reset last week because 1, 2, 3 were not working since I upgraded to 1.4.4 build and post reset it is still not working. This prompted me to logging-in to Deco using Web Interface. Latest firmware of the Deco M5 is 1.4.4 Build 20200221 Rel. 65392 as seen on web interface however when I check System -> Time Setting it is wrong for e.g. it shows me 2020-02-27 (this is because I did reset last week and hence it started counting from 21st Feb while today's date is 2020-07-28). Also, time value is also not correct (off by about 1 hr).
I suspect internal date/time issue on Deco is root of 1,2,3.
Thanks,
~Nitin Pandya

Hello, sorry to respond late.
Can you please confirm again what is the System Time setting on your Deco network? You may login to the web interface again and go to System Time, change it to another one then switch back to give it a go, please show me the screenshot again:

Hello,
Sorry that there seems to be an issue with the NTP server in the Deco firmware, we will soon fix it and update.
You may also refer to this thread that was posted by another user that he fixed it by manually set the IP address for the domain:

May it help.

Where do I find 'Local DNS Records' option as mentioned in solution of https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/210620 ?
Also, on weekend I upgraded firmware to 1.4.7 Build 20200725 however this issue still persists.
It is really frustrating because such a costy hardware is practially useless without proper parental controls and broken firmware (which everyone is complaining on forum) :-(.
Can you atleast give ETA for proper fix in firmware?

Hello, sorry for any trouble caused by this time setting issue on the Deco.
May I know how the Deco M5s are connected to your network? Is the main Deco M5 working as a Router? Please confirm again who is your ISP and what is the model number of your modem?
Please try to change the DNS settings on the Deco to a third-party one, such as Google's DNS server 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, then reboot the whole system then check again if the System Time will be correct.
Thanks
