Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.13 Build 20200117

Hi,

I recently installed Deco M9 Plus Mesh with 3 units in my connected home.

This product provides 2× 867 Mbps (with 5Ghz)+ 400 Mbps (with 2,4GHz) WiFi connection. At home I have a fiber connection supporting 5 GBs bandwidth and Deco M9 Plus is connected to my box which has 1x2,5 Gbps Ethernet port and 2 x 1 Gbps Ethernet ports and integrated 500 Gb/s WiFi router.

Can you please explain how I can get maximum bandwidth to more than 50 connected devices of my smart home leveraging M9 Plus 3 bands (2* 5GHz 867 Mbps + 1* 2,4 GHz 400 Mbps) WiFi technology?

If I understand well when I connect my main Deco through 1 Gbps Ethernet port to my modem (box) the maximum that I can have in theory through Deco is 1 Gbps bandwidth distributed to all my devices thanks to 3 bands.

Is it possible to connect Deco M9 Plus to 2,5 Gbps Ethernet port and get all supported in theory 2 Gbps bandwidth (2*867 Mbs+ 400 Mbs) distributed through Deco M9 Plus Mesh system?

Can I connect both 1 GBs ethernet ports of Deco M9 plus to my box to get 2 GBps bandwidth distribution through Deco? Should I setup two separate WiFi networks?

Can you please explain how I should set up Deco M9 Plus (3 units setup) with my box which can provide 4,5 GBs thanks to 3 ports (1*2,5 GBs and 2*1 GB ports ) to distribute maximum (bandwidth) across all my WiFi-connected devices maximizing usage of the 3 bands WiFi technology?

Thanks

@Livan Impossible.

Ethernet limit of M9 is GigE (1Gbit), Wifi 5Ghz 867mpbs (0,8gbits), Wifi 2.4Ghz 400mpbs (0,4gbits).

For 5Gbits Fiber you need 10GigE ethernet interfaces and Wifi X is limited today @ 1800mpbs. Deco not provide trunk on wan.

@Livan Just to add alongside leogz's comment, you unfortunately can't just add the speeds together, especially across frequencies. The manufacturers add these to the packaging to try to have an easy to compare rating, like AC1200, AC2400, etc.

The devices will need to fully support the maximum rating, plus be in a perfect place, with perfect lack of interference, and everything using the perfect level of overhead, etc. i.e. everything perfect, in order to achieve the theoretical maximum of each channel. Some devices can make use of dual antennas to theoretically double the speed available, but again, in the real world, this isn't necessarily achievable.

You could potentially split the ISP bandwidth between 2 AP systems and the inbuilt Wifi (I'm guessing you meant 500Mbps as even Wifi 6 theoretically maxes out at 9.6Gbps?), but very little, if anything for the residential market, will be available that could fully make use of 5Gbp/s broadband on it's own.

There are enterprise level APs which could make use of a 10Gbps ethernet connection, like Ubiquiti's Unifi AP XG, but expect to pay enterprise prices for it, as even their Pro series has 1Gbps ports.

Thank you @leogz and @richpriest for your answers, as I understand there is no way to distribute more then 1 GBps through Deco M9.

Can you please advise me what kind of equipment and setup I can use to distribute 5 GBps bandwidth provided by my IPS through a fiber modem/box having 1*2,5 GBps port  2*1 GBps ports and internal 500 Mbps WiFi across my different devices (more then 50 ) all connected through WiFi. In another words how I can distribute 5Gbps fiber bandwidth through WiFi ?
Thank you in advance.

@Livan "In another words how I can distribute 5Gbps fiber bandwidth through WiFi ?", Impossible, don't have any device with 5Gpbs bandwidth for home solution today.

You can arrange maximum 1gigabit per Deco M9 via ethernet.

Solution near maxium speed of deco per node:

[ ISP 5GigE ] - Switch 10GigE - Cat 6 from Switch to each Deco, not Wifi Backhaul. You got 0,8Gigabit per deco in AP mode.

Just for know, how much you pay this 5Gigabit fiber link @ home?
