Hi,

I want to use WDS feature with my office wifi network.

The office wifi can only be accessed after MAC authentication.

Can someone tell me which MAC will be used for WDS ?

I have already tried wifi mac addresses for both 2.4 and 5GHz shown on the router or mentioned in the status page after login into router settings. But it did not work.

Help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

IPS

As far as I know, it is not possible for us to get the MAC address before this C2 connected to the root wireless network, as that MAC address created by the WDS is virtual.

@Kevin_Z

Thanks a lot for taking time out and replying.

I have one spare tplink router (not C2) at home. I tried the same WDS setup on that.

The root wifi network router, in the connected devices, showed the MAC of tplink router which is mentioned at the back of it.

So for this one it does not look to be virtual.

Still do you think C2 will use virtual MAC for WDS ?

@IPSG

Hello,

Basically, the MAC address created by the WDS connection is virtual and is not predicable for any potential security concerns.

Sorry about that.

Hmmm , I understand the point.

Will it be changing everytime I power on the router ?

If not, I can ask support from IT team in office to snif the virtual MAC id.

Thanks,

IPS
