Deco AP mode problems with Mikrotik router
Deco AP mode problems with Mikrotik router
Hello everyone, I am having some issue with my equipment. I am running 3 Deco in AP mode, with a Mikrotik router, all good except that very randomly the APs turn to static RED Led but there is still internet connection. Now the Mikrotik router logs show that the main Deco AP is beign assigned and deassigned an IP about every minute or so. DHCP Server is runing on Mikrotik with a lease time of 1 day, with a pool that goes from 192.168.0.10 - 192.168.0.100 and I have reserved IPs .2 .3 .4 to my Deco APs (.2 is the main Deco). If someone could help me solve this problem I would appreciate a lot. Or if there is any way to set static IPs to the Decos. Thanks...

I have same problem on my new Deco X20. Wireless clients can connect to Internet, but Deco App said it's offline and the LED is red. I only found this article on Google but it seems doesn't help

Hi, your case is a little bit different from the original post.
It is more like, the DNS request for online internet checking has been blocked by the main router which will cause the LED red, but not affect the internet service.
May I know who is your internet service provider and what is the model number of the main router?
Is there any chance that you could change the DNS server on the main router to be 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 to have a look?
Thank you very much.

Fortunately I do not have mentioned problems. My setup is:
Router: MikroTik RB5009UG+S+IN
Firmware: RouterOS v7.0.5
and
AP: 4xDeco M4R(2.0)
Firmware: 1.5.2 Build 20210916 Rel. 56193
All decos are wired to the router and are working in AP mode.
Proposed solution:
Switch all Decos OFF.
Then assign static IP using Mikrotik webfig.
Turn Decos back ON.
If that doesn't help switch all Decos OFF. Then assign IP in Mikrotik using WinBox instead of webfig. Turn Decos back ON.

I'm sorry for the late response, as of right now i still own and use the 3 Decos mentioned at the beginning of this post, but I am not using the Mikrotik router anymore.
Of what I remember, The optimal setup was to use DHCP Server on the Mikrotik router and let the Decos obtain their IPs automatically (Do not reserve static IPs on the Mikrotik for the Decos, I suppose its the nature of how the Decos where designed to work). And always check for updates (Packages and Routerboard on the Mikrotik Side), (Firmware Updates on the Decos and Deco App as well). Hope it helps.
