Deco M9 Plus v1 updated firmware versus neglecting the v2
Good morning, afternoon and evening everyone.
I need an advice regarding the Deco M9 v1 and v2. I’m used to using the v1 and decided to expand the network so I ordered more Deco M9 but received the v2 this time. At the beginning, I thought this is a welcomed upgrade. Not so fast…
I have discovered that v2 is more limited than the v1. For example, the mobile app will let you know what devices connected to the v1 pods, but not the v2. The v2 cannot be accessed through the web link designed by Tp-Link, while the v1 is accessible!
Now, the straw that broke the camel's back, yesterday I get a notification that my v1 has a firmware upgrade available, while my v2 does not, with so many features available in the v1 upgrade. Seriously??
Published date for the latest firmware for the v2 is 2019-10-14
While the v1 latest firmware is 2020-06-08
Is TP-Link not going to support the v2, and keep it handicapped compared to the v1? I need to know so I can return the v2 that I bought or seek to exchange them with the v1.

Hi, currently, there is also a 1.5.1 build 20210126 for V2:
https://static.tp-link.com/2021/202102/20210220/Deco_M9_Plus_V2_1.5.1_210126.zip
And the firmware upgrade is applied in sequence to the correct devices during the release process.
So sometimes, the users might get the latest firmware in the first place.
Since your current firmware on Deco M9 plus V2 is on 1.2.11, it is suggested to download the firmware to be the latest firmware first:
The upgrade tool:

Thank you very much.

Hi Siggr,
Got a notification on 'some activity' on this topic via the mail.
Not sure where this 'reply' on an almost one year and pretty well (re)solved old post came from and what:
Any news ?. Same problem here.
means.
There have been several updates for the M9 (both versions) and the most recent one for the V2 around February (or so) this year, but that was also already correctly explained in the reaction by TP-link.
What's somewhat strange is that I seemed to have another reaction on this on by MapleLeaf, but that one is not visible (anymore ?!). (Wasn't a too helpful reply nor too positive to TP-Link, so it might have been 'moderated away').
Anyway, IF you still have any issue or question related to this original post (which was not started by me BTW), post it again with some clear info, or start a new thread.
TP-Link to my experience is quite responsive and correct on replies and looking for solutions, if needed, and so are some (happy and satisfied) users on this forum/community.
Have a nice day.

Would be really great to see @TP-Link @deco M9 Plus V1 and V2 devices kept in line with firmware releases.
I have a mix of V1 and V2 devices and have seen 2 updates for the V2 in the last 12 months (most recently, and most welcome, via the app) to 1.5.6.
Sadly, can't make use of any of these new features since my V1 devices are still on 1.5.1.
Any chance of converging the firmware into a single version - say 1.6.0? Please?
