Model: Archer C6
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

At the moment I have an Archer C6 and non TP-Link router. In my current scenario the Archer is acting as an AP only. Now, for the time being, there appear to be some issues with the C6 firmware, however once they (hopefully) get resolved, I was thinking about purchasing another C6 or a C7 to replace the non TP-Link router.

My goal: set up a single WiFi network in the house which supports seamless roaming.

Now, my question: would two TP-Link routers with OneMesh support be able to do that if they are connected over Ethernet (but still in range of each other, in case anyone is wondering), or is OneMesh + roaming reserved only for TP-Link WiFi expanders?

Unfortunately no. The OneMesh™ router can only be combined with OneMesh™ RE or OneMesh™ PLC to build Mesh networks right now.

Please be aware that there will be a new feature called EasyMesh added to the TP-Link routers and range extenders, which will allow you to build a mesh network between two routers wirelessly.
