Virgin Media issue with multiple Access Points
Hi all.
I have a Virgin Media Super Hub (SH) that is acting as router and modem. Attached to this I have 2 Archer A5s (A5) that are acting as Access Points to extend the wireless network.
The SH is set to restrict the IP range from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.101. Each A5 is set to AP mode, DHCP disabled, and static IP outside the SH range (192.168.0.110 and 192.168.0.120).
The first A5 (let's call this "inside", and it is IP 110) works a dream, but the second one (called "outside" on IP 120) is having none of it!
I have tested the "outside" ethernet cable by plugging it directly into my device and it works fine (see attached). I have then plugged the "outside" A5 into the "inside" ethernet cable to test the A5, and it works there just like the "inside" A5 works (again, see attached). But I then move this A5 to the"outside" ethernet and it dies!
This is the case whether both A5s are attached to the SH or just one.
I still have some debugging to do, but does anyone have any ideas?
- I am going to try the "inside" A5 "outside".
- I was thinking of turning the SH into just modem mode and using a third A5 as the router.
Finally, I understand that the A5 will not work as an access point when attached to an A5 acting as an AP. But would it work if attached to a switch attached to the router?
Thank you, guys.
Dan
