Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: TL-WA854RE_V1_150820

Hello there,

I have just updated my TL-WA854RE from firmware 13xxx to 150820.

 

After update firmware, it is not able to connect to main router any more.  

So I reset it. and try to connect to WIFI from it self : TP-LINK_Extender_3FCCF9 , an error window show up right after connected (no credentials asked.):

User name or Password is incorrect. please refer ...

is the Caps Lock enabled ....

 

forgot your user name and password?

please reset ....

Note the setting will be restored to factory ...

 

How to restore this device to ....

well, it is not really connected. and no where asked me password yet.

 

I have different password and user name for admin/admin before update firmware.

 

 

What shall I do now, how to downgrade to older firmware or really reset it?

Thanks, I tried not to use pad, iphone but computer to connect, then the login popup is showing up after I open browser.

 

with default password, I can access it now.

With the extender powered on, use a pin to press the RESET button for 1 second. The extender will reset and reboot.

 

Configure the extender again via Tether app: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1373/

Or set it up via its web UI: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/698/

but the app doesn’t have this version of hardware, V1 is not In list, only V2.

web UI not able to used since not able to connect repeater. It says user name password error. Reset 5 sec does not reset the password.

tried many times but reset doesn’t work.

I am really out of idea.

Oh sorry for my mistake, the TL-WA854RE V1 doesn't support the Tether app.

 

Do you mean you cannot reset it successfully? When you press the RESET button, will the LEDs on the front of the extender change? If not, I'm afraid the RESET button no longer works.

 

Check if this extender is still in warranty if you cannot reset it or reconfigure it:
