Region : Germany
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : latest
ISP : Kabel BW Germany
Hello, I have HDD (Toshiba 500GB) connected to router by USB and started media sharing.
(The HDD is started on USB Sharing)
Samsung LED UE40D7090 (2011 model) is successfully connected to network,.
I can see TP-Link on my LED network but it appears with blue exclamation mark and if i try to access the
released folders with files (i can see the files) with TV shows me a message "unknown file formatt" and i can´t access it.
On the PC - I can access video, pictures and mp3 content on USB HDD, problem just with TV.
If i connect the HDD direct to TV , TV can play all files.
Is there any solution available?

TP-Link should stop using uShare as a Media Server as it is unsupported and start using MiniDLNA instead.

The same crappy code is used to manage the USB ports on all the TP-Link routers, specially the DLNA media server is a big shit...
The R&D developers appear to me unable to understand this code...

just attached a brand new external drive to USB. (TP-WDR4300, last official firmware, Samsung TV)
result: unsupported file format
meanwhile PC recognizes the format and can play (avi files we are talking about)
Very very disappointing especially that it is visible from this thread that the problem is known for a very long time.
TP-LINK guys ! Any feedback?

I got this info from my user guide, and I can tell you there is some truth to it. The same files that i tried to view from the TP_Link Media Server that i could not access on the TV, were seen and played without a problem when I hosted them on my laptop that runs windows 7 and HomeGroup active,
I feel like there must be alternatives, butI just started digging in to this issue today, If you have already gotten some answers, I would love to hear them.

This stinker in official firmware will not work with DLNA TV. Only PS3/xBox/Windows Media Player. See userguide.......and tell to others. OpenWRT + miniDLNA in assistance.
TP-LINK is not certified for DLNA.

I have a wdr4300 router, and is working great. BUT, this media server is driving me crazy =/
I have another router, from a company here in Brazil, and they are using the miniDLNA in their router, and is amazing.
PLEASE tp-link, start using minidlna. PLEASE!
the media server on wdr4300 works OK, but my movies in x264 doesn't work, it shows "NULL" on the folders. AND there's still the problem with the subtitles... =/
I've tried to put the files (movie and subtitles) in a MKV container, but it doesn't work either.
the XVID files work great.
again... PLEASE TP-LINK, use minidlna on your routers, and a new firmware to the wdr4300 users!
