Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

Just arrived Deco M5, so following the setup instructions in the newly installed App to setup the first main Deco unit to my Virgin Media HUB 3.0 that is fully working with the TP-LINK Archer C3200 router that I'm replacing.

My Virgin Media HUB3.0 is in full modem mode and working fine as below with the C3200

So I remove the LAN cable from the Virgin Media HUB3.0 to the C3200, plugged it into one of the Deco M5 units, I discover the M5 unit, give it a location, etc. setup a new Wifi network, the HUB 3.0 port is flashing away nicely to the M5 unit and that's as far as I can get, the M5 is configured for Dynamic IP and 'Unable to connect to the internet' is as far as I can get as below

So I think tried another M5 unit and exactly the same.  I plug my C3200 back into the HUB 3.0 and immediately it obtains a dynamic IP address.

Can anyone help, surely I don't have to configure a static IP address and why can't these units work obtain a dynamic IP address... Have I bought an inferior product, thought I'd stick to TP-LINK as 'it worked', I'm only looking to improve coverage...

Thanks in advance

Welby

Hi all Update is all now working, the Virgin Media HUB 3.0 will restrict a new MAC address, so TP-Link support gave me these instructions to follow that got me up and running: 1. Power down the VM HUB 3.0 modem 2. Remove the coax 3. Power on the HUB and wait to boot up (flashing green LED) 4. Connect the new Deco Main unit via Ethernet 5. Connect coax to the HUB 3.0 6. Green becomes solid, and eventually solid purple 7. Dynamic IP address is successfully provided to the new DECO MAC address Thank you TP-Link support! Cheers
