Archer C60 not giving complete speed
Archer C60 not giving complete speed
When I connect my broadband fiber optic cable directly to my laptop, I get speeds between 100 to 150mbps for downloads. But when I connect the broadband cable to the C60 router and then connect the laptop to C60 router wifi, my speed is limited to 50mbps. I have not setup any QoS settings. Can somebody tell me why is the speed getting limited by the router?

Hi, the Archer C60 has the 100Mbps LAN ports, which means that the wired speed from Archer C60 won't be higher than 100Mbps.
Interface | 4 × 10/100Mbps LAN Ports 1 × 10/100Mbps WAN Port |
---|
For the wireless speed, you can change the wireless settings to improve its performance, including wireless channel and channel width. And please ensure that the firmware is up to date.
Good day.

You may go to the TP-Link official website, choose the Hide Filter "Internet Access Ports" as 1Gbps, you will get all the routers that gets more than 100mbps speed:

@Kevin_Z ,
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the reply.
1) Why is the max speeds of the router given as 450 Mbps for 2.4GHz and 867 Mbps for 5GHz ? This is basically useless , under what circumstances will those be used if the max internet speed is capped to 100Mbps? To be frank, I am terribly disappointed by the misleading features specification because of which I bought the product.
2)Despite choosing the best channel and width and updated firmware, the wirless speed does not cross 50Mbps. If the lan speed is capped at 100Mbps, then why am I not getting the same speed through Wifi ? Everytime I check the admin control panel, there is no updated firmware from the time I bought the product. How can I fix the wifi speed issue. What are the troubleshooting steps I need to do?

Hi, the 450 Mbps for 2.4GHz and 867 Mbps for 5GHz are the wireless link speed in the PHY layer, not the actual speed. And the actual speed is decided by bandwidth you paid, the capability of router, distance, obstacles and so on. When the router works as a repeater, the wireless speed can be higher than 100Mbps, but the LAN speed can be up to 100Mbps.
As for the speed, please check the wireless negotiation speed of your device, generally speaking, the actual wireless speed equals 60% of the wireless negotiation speed. Combined with obstacles or interference, the speed may be lower.
And you can adjust the position of the router itself or the antenna.
Good day.

I have Internet connection speed of 300Mbps. But from router, i never saw the speed more than 95 Mbps with both 5Ghz / 2.5Ghz. If i connect Internet cable directly to Laptop it gets 300Mbs , if i connect via router it never go above 95Mbps.
C60 is false marketing.

@MHK Technically, the brochure is correct.
It allows you to do the advertised speeds only when WiFi between devices. So, from laptop to laptop for example.
LAN and WAN ports are limited to 100Mbps. Which i am sure is also written on the brochure.

@Kevin_Z My ISP provider broadband plan is giving 150Mbps. I am getting the 150Mbps if i connect it directly without tplink route.
But with tplink archer c60, it is giving below 100Mbps around 93Mpbs. Why this is happening. Is there any way increase it to 150 Mbps the bandwidth i paid.
