I have a place in Spain and use to use an Archer C8.

However I have just changed my internet provider and had Fibre Optic installed with an ONT router, a "Huawei EchoLlfe EG8145V5"  I would idealy like to swop this and install a TP link router, the problem is I am not sure what model TP Link router to buy, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I should add I will also want to add a smart DNS.

Thanks in advance

Syd

@SRE Bear in mind you have an all in one ONT + Router + Voice Gateway device, even if TPLink had something similar you would need your GPON ID, PPPoE authentication credentials and (if you use the telephone service), the SIP credentials. This data is not always easy to obtain, and your ISP might even disallow access to not certified devices.

If you have all this information, you may either buy an all in one device or two/three different devices: ONT, router and (if you use the telephone) SIP gateway. Always considering that the ISP may use VLANs for different services and that may complicate setup even more.

I would just use your current device as ONT and SIP gateway and set it in bridge mode (if it allows it) so you can use whatever router you want.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your recommendation. I have spoken to my internet provider, basically they said use any router and connect to theirs. So basically I am after a simple recommendation of what TP-Link Router to buy, Obviously I don't need a modem.

@SRE An Archer C6 might be what you're looking for, just set the operation mode to Access Point and connect it to your router.

It's around 40€, great value with 5 Gigabit ports, WiFi ac 5GHz, very good signal and still getting firmware updates.

That's the one I got in your very own situation and so far quite happy. If you had more requirements like "I have 80 WiFi devices" then look for a more professional router. For typical home use to improve WiFi it's great.
