@TheDrownedApe If your only issue is with WiFi, that is, wired connections work well, then just setup the new router as wired access point. No need for bridge modes or setting up complex stuff.

That way you only have to set the same WiFi SSID name and password as the old one and disable the old WiFi. Most modern routers even come with a "access point mode" that makes things even easier.

However, VR900 looks like it has a nice WiFi system, how is it that it's not reliable? Maybe you just need to update the firmware to solve the issue.

@Kevin_Z I have just set up my Archer VR900 v3 in bridge mode, but I found for it to work with my new non-dsl wifi router (another manufacturer) I had to keep the PPPoE configuration as well as the bridge definition, and setup the new router to connect using Automatic IP, rather than have PPPoE configured on it.  Not sure how this is supposed to work, but when I deleted the PPPoE definition in the Archer, and only had the bridge definition, the router couldn't connect to the internet, even when I created a PPPoE configuration on it.

Is there a different way to setup the Archer as pure modem, and where should the PPPoE definition be created in this setup?  On the Archer or the separat router?

(I got a new router because my Archer keeps losing connection to my 2.4GHz clients and seems to have a connection limit of only about 20 devices before it becomes unstable.  Sometimes it silently drops the entire 2.4GHz band entirely.  From other forum posts I know I'm not the only person to experience this.  Shame, as it's a decent router apart from that.)
