Region : Malaysia

Model : TL-WDR4300

Hardware Version : V1

Firmware Version :

ISP : Unifi

I just bought this hardware, I haven't tried it yet. Will tested it when I reach home today. Someone told me that I need to update the firmware. Do I really need this, or I can just simply use the existing firmware?

There is firmware supported Unifi in MY. You can check the website and your own router. Here is the link: http://www.tp-link.com.my/support/download/?model=TL-WDR4300&version=V1#tbl_j

The latest Unifi supported firmware listed in http://www.tp-link.com.my/support/download/?model=TL-WDR4300&version=V1#tbl_j is wdr4300v1_en_3_13_21_up(121226)

My device has
Firmware Version:
3.13.23 Build 120810 Rel.44064n
Hardware Version:
WDR4300 v1 00000000

Should I update it?

I have updated the firmware, now I can use IPTV and internet. However my initial intention to buy the router is to have vlan trunking capabilities so that i just need to lay 1 cable to my living room to watch tv (the fiber terminated at my room in 2nd floor.

Hi Admin,
I just bought this router. Not able to connect to Unifi. I'm using the ZTE tower BTU.
Tried to download the latest firmware at this link http://www.tp-link.com.my/support/download/?model=TL-WDR4300&version=V1#tbl_j
But there's something wrong with the file as I cannot unzip it. There's an error message saying that it's not a valid archive.
There are 2 firmware versions with unifi support in the link. But both cannot be extracted.
Pls check. Thanks.

supertjx, I tried and it is OK here. Check your decompression software WinZIP or WinRAR. Try to unistall it and reinstall it on your PC.

Thanks Vivian.
Managed to extract the file with winrar. For some reason, winzip didn't work.
Anyway, I tried to connect to my ISP (Unifi 10) using the instructions here. http://www.klseet.com/index.php/tp-link/tp-link-tl-wdr4300/tl-wdr4300v13-unifi-custom-beta-fw-31321b120827
But couldn't get it to work. The status keeps showing that it's "connecting", but it never connects.

I tried unchecking the DNS servers box. But still can't work. Don't think it's a problem with my unifi userid or pw as I can get a connection with a different router.

Also, for some reason, my wireless devices (e.g. iphone) are not able to detect the 5GHz signal. These are the settings I used.
Wireless 5GHz
Wireless Radio: Enable
Name (SSID): RM188perhour
Mode: 11an mixed
Channel: Auto (Current channel 36)
Channel Width: Automatic
MAC Address: A0-F3-C1-A6-0E-44
WDS Status: Disable

Would appreciate help on this. Thanks.
