Run Pi-hole as local DNS server
Hi I have an Archer C7 V5 (IP: 192.168.1.1, Mask: 255.255.255.0).
I would like to run a Pi-hole (IP: 192.168.1.2) as a local DNS server, so I can allocate sensible names to my local devices and block outgoing DNS lookup requests for adverts, etc.
But the Archer C7 doesn't seem to allow a DNS server on the same subnet. Why not? - Is there a good reason for this?
So how do I add the Pi-hole to my setup without:
- configuring each internal device individually to point to the Pi-hole for DNS.
- OR, without resorting to installing OpenWRT on the Archer C7.
Thanks in advance.
