How do I get Wifi over 100 Mbps on Deco E4?
Hi.
I have a Deco E4 and have a 300 Mbps broadband connection, but is only able to get less than 100 Mbps Wifi connection (up- and download) with my E4.
I can see that the E4 can deliver up 300 Mbps at 2,4 GHz, but did also read this in a support thread:
"Please note if the Deco model is a product with 100Mbps Ethernet ports, the maximum speed of the Deco system is 100Mbps only".
Now I am a bit confused. How I can fully use my 300 Mbps broadband connection with the E4?
(On a side note, I can around 300 Mpbs if I connect my computer directly to the fiber box, without the E4 in between).
Can someone can elaborate :-)
/Klaus

@Prannoy same here. I changed my main deco for M5 and the rest of E4 are around our house. I only get 300mps if I am near M5. The rest, its only between 70-80Mbps.
Hope someone can teach us if we are doing something wrong here :)

Update:
As you know, the Ethernet port on the Deco E4 is up to 100m/s so as long as the E4 is the main Deco, or the device is connected to E4 via Ethernet connection, the speed is capped at 100m/s. While users could get more than 100m/s from E4 when adding a gigabit port Deco, such as M5/M4/S4/P9/Deco M9 plus or our Wi-Fi 6/6E Deco series, then put E4 as a satellite Deco via Wi-FI backhaul.
Some users still reported that even with M4 as the main Deco, E4 as the satellite Deco, the wireless speed from E4 is still less than 100m/s.
Here we will provide more suggestions to see happened:
1. Please check the signal source on the Deco E4 and make sure the Wi-Fi backhaul signal is at least 2 bars.
Due to the working pattern and protocol/regulation of Wi-Fi technology, the more wireless hops, the slower the speed would be. so the internet speed of satellite E4 would be about 50%-70% of the main Deco varying in distance/barriers.
2. Then check the wireless link speed when the device is connected to E4. How to check the associated/link speed on a wireless client.
The maximum link speed of E4 is 300m/s for 2.4ghz and 867 Mbps for 5ghz and normally the final internet download speed would be 40%-50% of the link speed on the clients.

hi, my M5 is connected via ethernet to my modem. All E4s are connected wirelessly.
If i am near M5, my speed is around 300Mbps.
however, if i am near any E4, my speed drops down to 70Mbps only.

Thank you for getting back to me.
If they are wirelessly connected, the Ethernet limitation on E4 should no longer be the problem.
In this way, is there any chance that you could help me run the following test:
1. unplug all 3*E4R, then plug one E4R next to the main Deco M5, about 3-4 meters away.
2. stand next to the E4 and check the wireless speed again, and please also check the link speed on this client as well-How to check the associated/link speed on a wireless client.
(Please check on the Deco APP and make sure it is on the E4, not M5)

@TP-Link apologies for the late response.
I tried doing this but i cant seem to get the 300Mbps speed in my E4s.
Is there something I need to do with E4s to make it work? Whenever I am near M5, my speed is at 300Mbps but when i move a little farther, my speed drops to 100Mbps only.
Also, what should I choose: Router or Access point? My M5 is connected via ethernet to the modem my ISP provided. Then all E4s are connected to each other wirelessly.
Many thanks!

@DewanAP Is this possible? M4 as the main deco while 2 E4 would be the slaves?

Yes, when E4 is a wireless satellite node, it will avoid of the limitation of the Ethernet ports.
As for the feedback of actual performance, we wll wait for actual feedback from other users.

@David-TP Thank you, I would buy another deco again for the main. What do you recommend M4 or M5?
