Model: Archer C2
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 0.9.1 5.0 v0032.0 Build 170207 Rel.49213n

Hi

I have an Archer C2 750 router. I ran nmap  192.168.0.1 from my computer and it reported that these are available :

22/tcp   open  ssh
23/tcp   open  telnet
80/tcp   open  http
1900/tcp open  upnp

I wasn't able to ssh into it, the following link states that its for use with an app only, no login. is that correct?

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4282635/all

Can I shutdown or limit telnet? I was able to limit login over http to one computer on the local network, didn't affect telnet which was still accessable by others.

What is upnp for? I switched off upnp via admin webpage and nmap reports service ir running (or port is open anyway)

Thanks,

Rob

@robdavies

Hello, the Archer C2 supports Tether app, and the app uses SSH22. You can read this article. https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2462/

The Archer C2 has the built-in web management page, which uses http port 80.

The UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) protocol allows the applications or host devices to automatically find the front-end NAT device and send request to it to open the corresponding ports.

While for the telnet, as far as I know, it is disabled by default; we can access the web UI with the local login only; you can try to use telnet to access the router to rule out the flaw of nmap software.

May it help.

@Kevin_Z

Thank you very much for replying, just realised I hadn't replied myself.

Yes, it covers it all. Telnet it accessable from this model, thankfully only from LAN. I did a scan from at home and those ports showed up, panic on. It wasn't until after I posted I did a scan from a friends house an nothing showed up. So with your great explanation, panic off.

Thank you again,

rob
