Is Kasa a replacement for Tether?

Hello, they are two different APPs. The Tether app applies to wifi router, DSL modem router and range extender and 3/4G router.
Note: Not all of the products are supported; you can check the Tether compatibility list. https://www.tp-link.com/tether_compatibility_list/
While kasa app is used to manage the smart home devices, including smart plug, smart bulb, smart switch and the kasa camera.
