FUTURE BUYERS BEWARE!!
Fed up with this, we need to warn future buyers.
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you are thinking of buying a TP-link mesh set (any model), please read this first before buying!!!
1) The mesh routers ONLY function completely when used in router mode. In Access Point (AP) mode there are the following limitations:
- IFTTT does not work at all.
- There are virtually no configuration options available. You cannot even change the wifi channel.
2) You cannot run your own DHCP server when in router mode. There is no way to switch off the internal DHCP router of the tplinks.
3) If you are running them in AP mode, tplink claims to switch off the DHCP server. This is NOT true. The DHCP is 'smart' and is switched on or off when the tplinks sees fit. This will even in AP mode cause problems on your local network causing machines to drop connections.
The problems mentioned above are serious design flaws and are not picked up by TPlink.
4) Newer models ( like the P9) suffer from incomplete firmware and missing app settings. It appears you, the buyer, is the fieldtester for TPlink.
5) There are numerous other unresolved problems, please check this forum.
If you also think TPlink needs to step up to our expectations , please +1 this thread so it will stay at the top of the list.

You're very welcome. I'm glad you decided to not buy. That is the sole purpose of this thread. I expect that support and product development (ie firmware releases) Will not be any better no matter what TP link product.

@realjax and to think I almost went for the $550 X60! If I spent 600 bucks on a wifi system I would be in real hot water with the wife anyway.

Regardless of the outcome the ticket just recently i sent to support, im extremly disappointed with my 3x DECO M4v1 due to ping spikes killing online gaming when using DECO Wifi.
Wasted troubleshooting hours instead of playing - that was not expected. Seems to be cpu 100% spikes causing packet drops.
Wifi coverage perfect, signal strenght awesome - but worth nothing if the whole system is crap - can read news and watch netflix - but cant play games via DECO wifi. Router mode or AP mode or 2.4ghz disabled, 5ghz disabled, sitting 2 feets away from the AP, testing with WIN10, iphone or android - doesnt helps, symptoms are same.
Wired works seamless. Using provider router wifi works seamless, not even 1 packet loss from a 10000 ping.
Not waiting more for a new and stable firmware - all TPLINK device goes into trash tomorrow.
Why ? Because that wasnt promised - forget your wifi problems they said.
I have onyl problems with wifi since i got the DECO.
NEVER again.

Not to make the situation worse and pollute the planet any more. Could you at least recycle this tplink junk?

I believe this post deserves to be on top of the forums. TP-Link is a scam company and deserves mass lawsuits.
