Looking for a little help here. I know what the problem is but unsure how to fix it.

I know about the VM router having modem only mode but thats not how I want it. I need the 3 wireless networks all running off the VM DHCP server.

We have VM router in router mode, I have attached 2 x TP-Link routers. An AC1900 & AC2800 routers. The VM router is setup on 192.168.16.0/255.255.255.0. I have the routers connected via the WAN port to a switch then in turn to the VM router.

The TP-Links on wireless are forwarding the correct network IP's (192.168.16.0). However when I connect to the VM wireless, I get an IP of 192.168.1.80 and therefore cant get online.

When using configure default gateway, it takes me to the TP-Link configuration page.

The VM router has somehow got the 192.168.1.0 network in its routing tables and corrupting it.

Anyone any ideas how to solve? Its driving me nuts :)

What are the model numbers of the AC1900/AC2800?

From your description, you want to use the Virgin media router as the DHCP server and use the two TP-Link routers  to boost wifi signal, in this way, it is suggested to configure the TP-Link router as the access points.

They should be working in regular router mode, and there should be an IP conflict, that is why the TP-Link router assigns IP on 192.168.16.x, while the gateway of VM router changes.

All in all, you can configure the two TP-link routers as access point to boost the wifi signal and the VM router works as DHCP server and main router.

May it help.

AC1900 & AC2800 is the model numbers :)

I set them up as Lan to Lan setup. set them on a reserved IP from the DHCP Router 192.168.16.5/24 & 192.168.16.6/24 respecively and turned off DHCP on the Tp-Link.

However this morning, It seems to have changed my settings I had changed, back to default!. Clearly a bug in the software.

I have now tunred of snooping too, hopefully makes a difference.

Im a bit confused as to what to set the operation mode to?

Hello, AC1900/AC2800 is the wireless link speed, not the actual model number, it starts with Archer, like Archer VR2800 or so.

If you wanna use the Virgin media router, then it is suggested to configure them as the access point mode to boost wifi signal and avoid double NAT issue.

Below is the instruction to configure the access point you can have a reference.

You can reset and reconfigure them to give it a go.
