@Will_W

The same thought occurred to me...makes sense that the Powerline feature of P9s would work best if they were all on the same 120VAC line. To that end, I just opened up my subpanel and switched a couple of wires, and now all the P9s are on same circuit.

For anyone not up on how home wiring works, here's the simplified version: Your home is supplied with a neutral wire and two 120 VAC wires; the two 120 VAC wires are out of phase with each other. If you connect something to both 120 VAC wire, you get 240 VAC, used for your kitchen range, clothes dryer, etc. For the 120 VAC outlets in your house, they're connected to the neutral and one of the two 120 VAC lines. As to which of the two they're connected, it usually seems like a seemingly random choice. Roughly half of them will be connected to circuit breakers of one 120 VAC line, and half to the other. By switching the wires or moving circuit breakers, you can designate which outlets are on which line.

I honestly don't know if it makes any difference to Powerline systems if they're on the same 120 VAC line or not; perhaps someone could enlighten me. But since it was easy to make sure they are, I went ahead and made the changes. Took five minutes to do.

The 240VAC usually comes from a single phase center tap transformer in a big can way up the power pole outside your house. It will almost certainly not pass powerline from 1 120VAC phase to the other. If you have a 240VAC appliance plugged in, it may pass the powerline across phases when it is off, on or both depending on the exact nature of the appliance and it's internal wiring. I've looked for some sort of high frequency filter that I could put across the 2 120VAC phases to allow power line to safely traverse the phases but I haven't found anything yet.

@Idan345 I decided to kick this piece of junk out, and I have bought the Amplifi Instant from Ubiquiti.

No problems since, full speed and great support (way better app and 7 productivity updates in 1 year).

Sorry but I could no longer live with this level of support, zero updates in over a year and no full functionality on the device, this is unacceptable.

Hello @Kevin_Z

Could you or ANYONE from TP-Link PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us an update on the release of the firmware of the Deco P9. Firmware that i hope will solve many problems with the product (as seen from these forums). It's now 3 June 2020. I'm sure many others are still waiting to properly use and utilise a product we paid a lot of money for.

Thank you in advance.
