Copy that. Please take your time and get back to us if you want to use the WR740 with the AX1500 again.
Good days.

Hello All,
i have an issue and may be related to WDS. i have AX1500 AX10 WIFI 6 router + RE650. i have setup on both same encryption and same SSID + same password. i'm seeing two SSID's with the same name instead of my previour router (netgear r7800) where i could see only one SSID. please explain if this is related and if there will be a firmware upgrade because this is pretty bad things for tp-link. thank you

@Artzox exaclty!
I am seriously disapointed.
I have owned 3 of their routers in the last 10 years and I have installed and configured over 500 units (worked as a network technician), all were great! But now ...
They just shifted their strategy to selling products to stupid people. And calling it 'user-friendly interface'.
Hey, Brunno*, why you got the 'Advanced Tab' then.
There's no WDS, no Channel selection, no Location selection, no Wireless Standard selection ... there are all lot of features missing, in the high-end models that you used to get on their user-grade cheapers.
Never again TP-link. They're going backwards!
The Archer AX1500, I just got goes directly in the bin.
Next stop, MikroTik to the win!

Sorry to disappoint you, while I may need to correct some points you are complaining here.
The AX1500 do support channel selection, but you need to disable the Smart Connect first. On page 66-67 of the User Manual, you will find the section to modify the channel settings:
https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202010/20201020/1910012597_Archer%20AX10(EU&US)1.0_UG_V1.pdf
Can you please explain what is the specific reason that you are requiring the location selection on the router, as it can automatically synchronize the local Time Zone? We will then investigate if we can get you a workarround.

As far as I know, there is currently no plan to add the support for the WDS feature on the AX1500.
While if you use the AX1500 as the main router, there is no requirement for the WDS feature, you can just enable the WDS feature on the secondary/older TP-Link unit.

Stop lying! Can't connect secondary router in WDS mode to AX series routers!
I was only able to connect the secondary router to the AX73 by installing DD-WRT firmware on the secondary router. Shame!
TP-Link now prevents two AX routers from being connected either in WDS or MESH mode. Buy WiFi boosters! Better yet, switch to ASUS.

@wandog I confirm that after the last firmware update of AX6000 (used as primary router) the WDS on the secondary TP-LINK router stopped working. Will have to use open source firmware on the secondary.
No warning about that in the release notes. So much for "improvements". Lost a good Sunday trying to figure out what's wrong.
Bad reputation for tp-link.

Were you owning an Archer AX1500, and failed to connect another router to its wireless network via WDS? Can we have the model of the second router?
