Archer AX6000 5Ghz stops working after app. 1 day
Hi,
I just bought a Archer AX6000 router. I'm having trouble with the 5 Ghz band. After a clean start up of the router the 5Ghz works fine. I have laptop, 2 phones and a tablet that can all connect to it. But after a day or so the connection is lost and I can't reconnect. The 5Ghz network is intermittend down. So, when scanning for networks sometimes the 5Ghz network is visible, but then dissapears again. This happens on all 4 devices, which make believe that the origin of the problem is with the router.
In a wifi analyzer app I see the same thing. The 5Ghz network is there, and then it isn't. Then it's back again and then it's gone again.
I updated the firmware to the latest available version, which is version 1.0.6.
Any ideas on how to solve this? Or should I return it?

@broxtor It's not that this ax 6000 has just come onto the market.
It has been around since September 2019.
The software is from https://www.tp-link.com/ch/support/download/archer-ax6000/#Firmware
And do not manage to develop something that works ???

I'm also suffering from 1.1.0 Build 20200427 rel.80857... ever since this firmware was released we've had problems with 5 GHz refusing connections after anything between 24-72 hours. The Wi-Fi network stays up perfectly fine but what is happening is that authentication is being refused to devices trying to join 5GHz. 2.4 GHz seems unaffected. My iPads start saying things like "incorrect password" and Android phones start to disable the 5 GHz network as they are kicked out.
Strangely enough if a device remains in range of the router it seems to stay connected until you take it out of range (for example go to work) and then return later it can no longer authenticate witht the router until it is rebooted.
This firmware definately seems flawed and I'm currently in discussions with TP Link support on a resolution which at this time seems to be to downgrade the firmware somehow.
I also notice that the EU firmware 1.1.0 has been pulled from the dowload section. I wonder why!

@Transmission1 If you have an RE355 Wi-Fi Range Extender, try unplugging that to see if the issue goes away. I have various models of TP-Link Extenders and have found that one to be problematic even with latest firmware. Either way, eliminate any extenders from the equation to determine if it is the router versus an extender.

@Cawsie1962 I've downgraded previous versions. Just go to https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/archer-ax6000/#Firmware (assuming you are in US), download the desired firmware, and unzip the file. Then, go to Advanced->System Tools->Firmware Upgrade on router and do Local Upgrade by selecting the browse button and picking the file you saved locally.

I waited for 2 months, not to post some crap or anything wrongly here....
I downloaded and installed this version: ax6000v1_us-up-ver1-0-8-P9[20200318-rel14152]_beta_2020-03-18_16.03.53.zip more than 2 moths ago.
I since haven't had any drop-out or porblems! In the past all other versions didn't work for me so I will do a damn to upgrade anything!
If it aint broken- don't fix it!
I hope this helps others too with this misarable stupidly designed router. Shame on you developers!!! I hope your CEO will read this and gives you the sack! Enjoy your days on the beaches (or dump)!
Cheers

I have a one month old ax6000. Today, I had a power failure in my house. When the power came back and router restarted, I had no internet. When I checked the SSID visible, my wifi ssid was gone and the tplink default ssid ( with default pass printed on router ) was there. I had to login, setup my ISP ( static IP ) and wifi settings all over again.
I am on 1.1.0 Build 20200427 rel.80857. I had NO ISSUES in the last one month. Router was stable and I got full speeds on wired and wireless lan ( 500mbps up/down internet connection )
Can you guys let me know why my router just reset itself to default settings ? It's a bit weird and if it happens when I am not there then my family will be stuck without the internet because they can't setup routers and my ISP customer care doesn't configure routers ( They will just come and setup the net on a single laptop )

@kevin_z
I upgraded to the 1.1.2 beta availabe in the thread
Everything seems to be fine ( getting full speed on wired / wireless connections ) but the inbuilt speedtest on the router is just not working properly. It used to work fine in the previous build ( a month old pic I had sent to a friend sometime back of my ISP performance )

My experience with this router is to alter settings at your peril.
Currently, i am running the newest firmware (before it was pulled).
Installed it then did a factory reset.
I only change the time server, give the bands different passwords, connect my hard drive and that's it.
Speak as you find it is as solid as a rock . No dropouts or disconnections. Seen 20 connections to it wired and wireless and never misses a beat.
Before this i used to play around with the settings and it doesn't like it. I think this is what's happening with a lot of users.
example i enabled the guest network and instantly all my wireless clients disconnected. Why would enabling the guest network cause this?
worse still after disabling the guest network you'd think everything would go back to normal. But no. Unable to connect most of the wifi clients. Only a factory reset would clear things.
Changing the dns servers messes things up. My Roberts radio fails to get an ip address from router. Radio is not on the list of connected devices. Factory reset sorts it.
The led on the router has a toggle to turn it off. It goes off when you toggle it. Reboot router and the toggle is still off but led stays on. Only way to turn led off is to enable night mode and give it a 10pm to 10 pm time.
So why would you pay big bucks for a router and be afraid to change settings?
Can't send it back so stuck with it. As i said earlier for what i need it works great. Shame it's such a fragile beast.
