Model: Archer C9
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.2.4

Dear TP-Link Community,

I am having trouble establishing an Internet Connection through my TP-Link Archer C9 in the following set-up:

ISP Modem [LAN Port - 192.168.0.1]

     - 24-Port Switch TL-SG3424 [LAN Port - 192.168.0.2]

            - Archer C9 [LAN Port 1 - DHCP Disabled - 192.168.0.3 - Internet Connection NOT Working]

            - Archer C8 [LAN Port 1 - DHCP Disabled - 192.168.0.4 - Working Internet Connection]

            - Archer C8 [LAN Port 1 - DHCP Disabled - 192.168.0.5 - Working Internet Connection]

            - Archer C1200 [LAN Port 1 - DHCP Disabled - 192.168.0.6 - Working Internet Connection]

Behind my ISP Modem, I have a 24-Port Switch (TP-Link TL-SG3424) to provide all my wall RJ45 connectors a working LAN connection. Behind the 24-Port Switch, I have 4 WiFi Access Points (Archer C8, Archer C8, Archer C9, Archer C1200). All 4 Access Points (Archer C8, Archer C8, Archer C9, Archer C1200) share these same settings:

  - WAN: Not Connected (Dynamic IP)

  - LAN: Connected - Static IP 192.168.0.3 to 192.168.0.6

  - DHCP: Disabled

  - SSID: Same for all 4

  - All Other Settings: Same for all 4

The C8 and the C1200 deliver a working Internet Connection to all devices. The C9 does not, but works within the LAN, despite having the exact same settings. I left the 'Router Mode' on on purpose, as I need to blacklist some MAC addresses, which is not possible in the 'AP Mode'. In the 'AP Mode", the Internet Connection works fine, but I want to avoid using this and having the same set-up as for the C8 and the C1200.

Any ideas?

Thank you very much for your help!

Kind regards,

kurgom86

@kurgom86

If you want to configure it as an access point, it is suggested to change the operation mode to access point mode directly; or you can use it as a second router with WAN port connected and DHCP server enabled to use the access control feature.

Besides, even though you left the router mode on on the web UI, it does not mean that the router works in router mode; it still works in access point mode actually cause you changed to it manually.

Back to your case, please connect your computer to the Archer C9 and click here to get the IP address and gateway of your computer. And try to ping 8.8.8.8 and show us the result.

Note: Please connect to the LAN port.

@Kevin_Z

I have resolved the issue by a 'WDS Bridge' from the MAC address of the Wired LAN to the Wireless 2.4Ghz Setting. Somehow, this now works flawlessly, just like the C8 does without this fix. (Could be a firmware issue?)
