By AP, are you referring to the DECOs?

If so, just use the android/ios app to specify their static IPs - as long as these IPs do not conflit (not within) the DHCP pool of the DHCP server, nor in use by other fix ip machines.

@ragnakore tI cannot see anywhere in the app to set the ip addresses of the deco devices when in access point mode.   Please can you point me to where in the app I can set the address.  and how i do this for all 3 as all 3 seem get DHCP ip addresses.

I posted a WRONG answer previously. I mixed up thinking you were referring to DECOs' LAN IP addresses which if in AP mode becomes inaccessible to your machines.

Please refer to diagram below:

Since you want to make DECOs in AP mode, it implies that all your machines, including DECO will be getting IP addresses from the "main router".
And you want to assign Static IP Addresses to DECO devices; instead of using WIFI App to set IP address, use the "main router" to reserve IP address for the DECOs.

Hello, there is no option to setup static IP for the Deco in AP mode cause it is assigned by the main router.

While you can set a static IP for it on the web UI of the main router. It is the same.

May it help and have a good day.

@ragnakore I0ve the same problem.

I MUST use my DECO as AP but I cannot set a fixed IP. It seems DECO use only DHCP client mode to get an IP and it's impossible to set an IP manually.

It sounds strange because every device must accept automatic or static configuration. Don't you?

Ciao

Andrea

Yeah you're right. It is pretty unusual for a device not to allow a static IP address. To be honest, I'm quite disappointed with the level of configurability of these things. The "advanced" settings are a joke, just a couple of things like beamforming and roaming. I was expecting SNMP monitoring. Also being able to configure it via Web but the interface is super limited. And requiring to create an account in TP-link is unnecesary. I think I'll be returning them.

FWIW I had the same issue (decos are in AP mode).  I was able to set static IPs for the deco devices through the main router's DHCP configuration.
