Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.8

Hi. In my home I have 4 units of Deco M9 Plus v1 and one newer unit Deco M9 Plus v2.

Q1: What is the difference in the hardware versions?

Q2: They seem to have different firmware builds. Will they get the same firmware build in the near future?

Q3: Can I expect difficulties having different hardware versions in the same network?

@Superior3000

There is not much difference between Deco M9 plus V1 and V2; They use their own firmware, unlike Deco M5 V1 and V2 share the same firmware.

You can refer to the datasheet to get more details.

The firmware for Deco M9 plus V1 is on its way, while we are not sure the ETA now, it is still under testing.

The different hardware versions won't affect the performance, except different hardware, different model number of Deco can build up the mesh network.

May it help and have a good day.

Update: The latest firmware 1.3.0 for Deco M9 plus V1 has been released. You can go to official website to get it.

@Kevin_Z  Thanks. Does this mean v2 and v1 will each get its own firmware?

Correct, the V1 and V2 use their own firmware, do NOT share the same one.

@Kevin_Z

I will use the update feature in the app, so I don't need to monitor myself if all units get the right firmware.

I just want to use the newest features and that can only be done if all my units (3 x M9 Plus version1, 1 x M9 Plus version2, 1 x M5) have the latest firmware... More patience required from me...

No matter how many different Deco units exist, the Deco app will push the firmware available notification and will list them one by one.

You do not have to monitor it by yourself.

I just got my Deco M9 Plus 3pack a few days ago. Found out that it seems to be V1 hardware. I've compared both datasheets for V1 and V2 and can't see a difference. Isn't there really a difference? If V2 is newer and/or has better hardware should I return the V1-set and request a V2?

I'm in the same situation. Ordered from Amazon and got a v1 version. I noticed that the last fw available from tp-link site is M9Plus 1.0_en_1.2.8 Build 20190403, while for v2 it's M9Plus_2.0_en_1.2.11 Build 20190926 Rel. 55727. I'd just like to know if the fw for all hw revisions will be developed with common functionalities, otherwise I'll return it to Amazon and choose another solution. Will there be the 1.3.x version of the fw with new functionalities, like the M5 received lately, for both v1/v2 hw revisions of the M9? Thanks for any moderators who will answer this.

On the website I see this for v1 (EU product): https://www.tp-link.com/it/support/download/deco-m9-plus/v1/#Firmware

I'll wait for the devices to be delivered and try the autoupdate to see if it's just a matter of the website not being updated.

Meanwhile, let's wait for a mod to reply. :)

@alexdelprete

I've send a mail to Dutch support. Hope they respond. After I got my set a few weeks ago it immediately downloaded the latest firmware.
