Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hello.

I have 2 questions:

  1. Is the wired connection of the M5s legit? Will it do the work?
  2. While using this connection topology, will the cell-phone (connected to M5 - C) be able to access files stored on NAS using the home network (not the internet)?

What is the correct configuration for the M5 to work as expected using this connection?

Thank you.

@FuntIzuma

You can connect them like the picture attached.

To satisfy your needs,  the simplest way is to configure the Deco M5 as the access point mode. Then the pc connected to the Deco will be in the same subnet with the NAS which connects to the ISP router directly.

Or you can make ISP router as bridge mode and configure one the Deco as the main router and connect the ethernet switch to the main Deco. To make PC access the NAS, the NAS need connect to the Deco.

Or you still connect them per the picture, and configure the Deco as the router mode, while you need open the port for NAS so that the PC can access it.

May it help and have a good day.

@FuntIzuma

How are your Deco's configured? Bridged or Routed mode.

In routed mode it may not work, I couldn't connect without a bunch of static configuration (that I didn't try) from the "outside" of the routed M5 to the inside.

It may work ok from the inside to the outside though.

Blessings, Martin

@Kevin_Z

Hi.

Configured as access point (cancels some features but it's ok).

Works perfectly.

Thanks a lot.
