Hi,

Is there any way to set the DNS values for IPv6 on the LAN?

There is for IPv4 but cannot see anywhere for IPv6 in the interface. You can enable DHCPv6 but there is nowhere to enter DNS addresses.

I want to be able to use my own DNS server, however clients are getting a IPv6 DNS address pointing to the router.

Thanks

@Stonehouse

For your information, there is no option to customize the DNS server for the IPV6 on the LAN.

While you can change the DNS server on the client device itself as a workaround. The DNS server on the device has the highest priority.

May it help and have a good day.

@Kevin_Z

Thanks for the reply.

Am I right in thinking there is no way to disable it entirely like IPv4?

I tried disabling IPv4 DHCP to use a custom server to provide the correct DNS values, but the router was still responding with the IPv6 DNS address.

It is a little annoying not being able to disable it and use something else.

Thanks

@mspyros

That is the WAN settings, I do not wish to change anything there.

I wanted to send the LAN clients a custom IPv6 DNS address (pointing to somewhere on my local network), or just disable DHCP altogether and get something else to handle it.

Clients still get an IPv6 DNS pointing to the router even after disabling DHCP unfortunately and I dont see any option to change this.

Thanks

@Stonehouse

Ok my mistake. Sorry

Confirmed. No manual ipv6 assign on lan. Only auto DHCPv6 server (with your prefix=like manual ipv6???)

Or you enable RADVD (https://superuser.com/questions/1046232/whats-better-radvd-or-dhcpv6-for-local-network-with-ipv6)

@mspyros

So i've tried both RADVD and DHCPv6, and both seem to give a DNS address to clients via router advertisements (I think).

What would be useful would be a "disable" option there to completely turn it off, like there is for DHCP with IPv4.

Not being able to either change the DNS addresses given out by the router, or an option to turn it off seems like an oversight to me.

Unless I am missing something of course.

Thanks
