Model: Archer C3200
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi!

New to the forum, roamed the threads but didnt find anyone talking about this..

I got an Archer AC3200 as my main router with both wired connections such as PC, PS4 and a NAS connected to it and also as a wifi router for my wireless units in my house.
I am thinking of getting another Archer AC3200 to work as an AP in the other end of the house to boost the connection. Will this work smooth or do I have to do anything special in the settings. Anyone tried this setup? Happy?

@Rimbleuz

How do you want to connect the 2nd C3200 to the first one? By wired cable or wireless?

If it is connected by wired cable, you can configure it as an access point, below is the instruction:

If it is the wireless,the C3200 does not support WDS bridging feature so we cannot set it up as a repeater. Instead, you can use a network expansion device, like range extender.

Or if the whole house is running under the same power circuit, powerline adapters with wifi function will be a good choice as well.

May it help and have a nice day.

Hi Kevz!

I will have it connected by wired cable. Read and saw the video on how to hook it up. Would love to hear anyone who got this setup, if its stable, if its any errors och unwanted issues or if it runs like clock. :D Thanks!

@Rimbleuz

Hi, the Archer C3200 supports access point mode, therefore you can connect it to the first router by wired cable.

We did a test on how to setup a second router as access point to extend the wifi range before, compared to wireless connection, the wired connection will be more stable and the speed will be faster due to the lack of wireless connection interference.

Besides, we usually uses WDS feature to connect one router to another, while the WDS feature used by different manufacturers varies; while with the 2 routers connected by wired cable, there is no need to worry about the compatibility.

What is more, you can search whether there is somebody else has this kind of experience.

Good day.
