Model: Archer C1200
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.0.2

Hello,

I use Archer C1200, my ISP's plan provide me with D/L and U/L speeds of 250 Mbps,

recently I've been getting random speed drops where my D/L speed would go down to 5-15 Mbps and U/L to around 50-60 Mbps,

I've tested this on PC and mobile devices connected, Idle with no background downloads, this seems to be a router specific issue, I get my connection

from my ISP via an ethernet cable(cat6) and if i connect it directly to my PC I recieve 250 Mbps with no problems,

these speed drops would sometimes correct itself after a few hours or sometimes if I restart my router.

What could be the issue?

Also,

Archer C1200 maximum bandwith is 100 Mbps and since I have a plan with 250 Mbps I plan on getting an upgrade soon, could someone recommend me a wireless AC

router which would give me 250 Mbps? will Archer C1750 transfer at 250 Mbps bandwith?

Thank you.

The Archer C1750 should handle 250 just fine. Consider the C9 which is a bit faster or one of the routers with MU-MIMO.

@Ost

Compared to the Archer C1200, the AC1750 or above should be more powerful.

While we can also do some troubleshooting on this speed issue and try to fix it.

1. The Archer C1200 has the gigabit ports, it should be able to handle 250Mbps. With C1200 connected to the modem directly, please connect one computer to the Archer C1200 and verify whether it works well.

https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/archer-c1200/#specifications

2. When the speed slows down, what is the wired speed you can get from the C1200 with your computer connected to it?

3. Besides, at that time, please verify the wired/wireless negotiation speed of your computer/smart phone so that we can rule out whether it is the negotion speed which affects the actual speed.

4. Ensure that the firmware is up to date.

5. And try to disable NAT boost under advanced-system tools-system parameters page.

Any updates, please let us know.
