I need some help getting this router connected to sky fibre, I tried a BT open reach modem but wouldn't connect ... might be an issue with BTOR modem so ordered DrayTek Vigor 130, I have all the settings as I am upgrading from a old VR200 which couldn't cope with the amount of network devices. Just waiting on delivery of modem

do I just create the connection on Vigor 130 modem and then plug into WAN port on the router, this seems too easy after what has been stressful and intense getting this working, I don't get why sky insist on restricting there network with DHCP option 61 which I can't find out anywhere if I need to set this on router or the modem? Or even if this router supports it or will support it with firmware update.?

currently running VR200 and AX6000 together with VR200 just connected to vdsl2 sky fibre and AX6000 handling all network exception to port forwarding and dynamic IP service.

spoken to Tp-Link tech support they have logged it to a senior tech support

any help appreciated

So tried the Vigor 130 in bridge mode and router still will not connect, really need a firmware update to include DHCP option 60/61 for sky fibre

I have exactly the same issue:

My setup:

  • Draytek Vigor 130 configured in MPoA Bridge Mode
  • TP-Link Archer AX6000

Added Option 61 (Client Identifier*) to the DHCP options on the Draytek and on the TP-Link I cloned the MAC of the Sky Q Box - worked for around 12 hours and dumped me out.

Its worked twice both for 12 hours before uncerimoniously being dumped out.

At the moment I have to use the AX6000 configured in AP mode (hooked up to the old Sky Q Box) which is really annoying as you cannot use most of the features in this mode of operation.

Someone mentioned that Option 60 needed to be populated with Sky Q Box Firmware version but clutching at straws really.

I do not think the TP-LINK Archer AX6000 supports DHCP Option 61 (MER).

M

* You can obtain the Client Identifier by using WireShark, filtering for udp.port==67 and looking for DHCP Discover with Option 61 with a length of 28 Bytes - copy as printable text - remove the leading = and that is you sky client identifier in the <MAC>@skydsl|<password> format.

@Sidney2g Hiya,

no the only way i got round this was to use my old tp link vr200 in modem only by setting nat forwarding on vr200 and pointing the dmz on the vr200 to ax6000

i also had to change the ax6000 to dynamic ip so it picked up a Internet address on the wan port
